BACKGROUND: Antenatal corticosteroids (ANCS) reduce complications of preterm birth; however, not all eligible women receive them. Many hospitals and providers do not have the right processes and conditions to enable ANCS administration with high reliability. OBJECTIVE: Determine if diagnosis of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) increases the incidence of postpartum depression (PPD) in rural Appalachian Ohio.
METHODS: A retrospective chart review was conducted to review pregnancies between February 2020 and March 2023 to look for diagnoses of gestational diabetes and PPD.

Previous studies have shown that up to 50% of adult drownings are related to the consumption of alcohol. Little information is available in the literature regarding the possible contribution of ethanol and other drugs to drownings. All records of deaths occurring in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, from 1994-2003, in which drowning was listed as the cause of death, were reviewed. Toxicology analysis was performed on cases where specimens were submitted. Two medication treatments (buprenorphine and naltrexone) are effective for treating opioid use disorder (OUD) in office-based settings but are seldom prescribed to adolescents.
