Physiologically-based pharmacokinetic modeling of enavogliflozin ophthalmic solution for starting dose selection in diabetic retinopathy treatment.

The ophthalmic solution of enavogliflozin has been developed to treat diabetic retinopathy by inhibiting the sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) in the eyes. This study aimed to develop a physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model for predicting enavogliflozin exposures in the retina and to determine starting doses in first-in-human clinical trials of the ophthalmic enavogliflozin. Pharmacokinetic (PK) profiles for enavogliflozin in eleven tissues, including four eye segments, were obtained in rats to evaluate tissue distribution and estimate tissue-to-plasma partition coefficients

Ophthalmic Solution Safety Profile: Active Surveillance of a Sodium Hyaluronate/Chondroitin Sulfate Combination in Peruvian Population.

BACKGROUND: Sodium hyaluronate/chondroitin sulfate fixed combination plays an essential role in the treatment of keratoconjunctivitis sicca, a multifactorial disease accompanied by ocular symptoms like alteration of the tear film. Despite low or no absorption of such drugs, these can cause secondary effects. An essential tool in the study of medication behavior is active pharmacovigilance. Unlike spontaneous reporting pharmacovigilance, this tool allows an appraisal of adverse drug reactions (ADRs)' real incidence, a higher capacity to identify safety signals, the relationship with concomitant
