Microglia-targeted Panax notoginseng polysaccharide nanoparticles alleviate Alzheimer's disease via AMPK-mTOR/HIF-1α-mediated immunometabolic reprogramming.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is increasingly recognized as an immunometabolic disorder characterized by a self-reinforcing cycle of neuroinflammation and glycolytic reprogramming in microglia. Herein, we developed KPBIT@NPs, a microglia-targeted polysaccharide-based nanomedicine. Unlike many conventional nanocarriers that mainly serve as passive delivery vehicles, KPBIT@NPs employ the natural macromolecule Panax notoginseng polysaccharide (PNP) to construct a dual-functional, responsive nanoparticle platform. Through rational engineering via phenylboronic ester grafting, the polysaccharide backbon

Comparing the Drying Characteristics, Phytochemicals, and Antioxidant Characterization of Panax quinquefolium L. Treated by Different Processing Techniques.

American ginseng (AG) has long been used as an ingredient in the food and pharmaceutical industries because of its nutritional and economic value. AG is rich in nutrients, and its quality is greatly affected by how it is processed. However, there is a relative paucity of research on the comprehensive evaluation of different processing techniques of AG. This study evaluated the differences in quality formation and properties of low-temperature softened, blanched, steamed followed by hot air drying, and vacuum freeze-dried AG (LTS-HAD, BL-HAD, ST-HAD, and VFD, respectively). The results demonstr

Effects of exogenous copper on microbial metabolic function and carbon use efficiency of Panax notoginseng planting soil.

Soil copper (Cu) pollution is a serious environmental risk in the Panax notoginseng planting area. However, the effect of Cu on soil microbial metabolism and nutrient cycling in this area remains unknown. Therefore, Biolog ECO-plate and enzyme stoichiometry methods were utilized in this study to investigate the impact of exogenous Cu (control: 0 mg·kg-1; Cu100: 100 mg·kg-1; Cu400: 400 mg·kg-1; and Cu600: 600 mg·kg-1) on the metabolic function of soil microbial and nutrient limitation in the P. notoginseng soil. The results indicated that Cu100 significantly increased soil organic carbon (SOC),

Panax notoginseng Saponins Ameliorate Gamma Radiation-Mediated Damages in Human Peripheral Blood Monocytes and Swiss Albino Mice.

In this study, the protective effects of Panax notoginseng saponins (PNS) against gamma radiation-induced DNA damage and associated physiological alterations in Swiss albino mice were investigated. Exposure to gamma radiation led to a dose-dependent increase in cytokinesis-blocked micronuclei (CBMN) double-strand DNA breaks (DSBs), dicentric aberrations (DC), formation in peripheral blood mononuclear cells. However, pretreatment with PNS at concentrations of 1, 5, and 10 µg/mL significantly attenuated the frequencies of DC and CBMN in a concentration-dependent manner. PNS administration before

Prevention effect of total ginsenosides and ginseng extract from Panax ginseng on cyclophosphamide-induced immunosuppression in mice.

Oral decoction is widely applied in traditional Chinese medicines. The polysaccharides of decoction promote the exposure of small molecules and increase their bioavailability. This study mainly compared the component and activities of total ginsenosides (TGS) and ginseng extract (GE) on immunosuppressed mice induced by cyclophosphamide. Thirty-two mice were randomly divided into control, model, TGS, and GE groups. The mice were orally administered for 28 days and then injected with cyclophosphamide on the last four days. The results of component analysis showed the total content of 12 ginsenos

Functional Characterization of BRASSINAZOLE-RESISTANT 1 in Panax Ginseng (PgBZR1) and Brassinosteroid Response during Storage Root Formation.

Brassinosteroids (BRs) play crucial roles in the physiology and development of plants. In the model plant Arabidopsis, BR signaling is initiated at the level of membrane receptors, BRASSINOSTEROIDS INSENSITIVE 1 (BRI1) and BRI1-ASSOCIATED RECEPTOR KINASE 1 (BAK1) complex, thus activating the transcription factors (TFs) BRASSINAZOLE RESISTANT 1/BRI1-EMS-SUPPRESSOR 1 (BZR1/BES1) to coordinate BR responsive genes. BRASSINOSTEROIDS INSENSITIVE 2 (BIN2), glycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK3) like-kinase, negatively regulates BZR1/BES1 transcriptional activity through phosphorylation-dependent cytosolic
