Stress and loneliness in marriage: does loneliness moderate the effects of daily stress on marital satisfaction?

Although stress is widely recognized as a key predictor of marital satisfaction, less is known about how daily experiences of loneliness may shape this association. Loneliness, whether stable or fluctuating, may alter how spouses interpret and respond to daily stressors. Participants were 155 heterosexual married couples who completed daily surveys over seven consecutive days. Using a dyadic intensive longitudinal design, participants reported daily levels of stress, loneliness, and marital satisfaction. Results from dyadic multilevel models revealed that, for wives, average loneliness moderat

The effect of video-based educational program on satisfaction and comfort in patients undergoing transradial coronary angiography: A single-blinded, randomized controlled trial.

Cardiac catheterization has been the most widely used diagnostic method, and in most cases, invasive diagnostic methods are associated with stress and concern that can affect the satisfaction and comfort of patients undergoing transradial coronary angiography. In this randomized controlled trial, a total of 89 patients undergoing transradial coronary angiography were recruited using convenience sampling. Then, the patients were assigned to two groups of intervention and control using blocked randomization, as those in the intervention group received video-based patient education and those in t

Increasing Overall Well-Being is Salient in Treating Homelessness.

Homeless treatment programs have focused on physical solutions rather than attending to all aspects of well-being. Support services that address overall well-being have demonstrated effectiveness. Previous research suggests that overall well-being is defined as satisfaction within all life spheres. Objective life indices have been the primary evidence of success among various programs, which include food, housing, income, leisure, health, access to psychiatric and medical services, and maintenance of positive support networks. This does not account for other important subjective components, su

Burnout Links Job Engagement to Job Satisfaction: Moderating Effects of Demographics in Emergency Medical Technicians.

IntroductionPrehospital emergency medical services play a critical role in caring for patients with urgent medical needs. However, the time-pressured and unpredictable nature of this work places substantial stress on emergency medical technicians (EMTs). Over time, such stress may lead to job dissatisfaction and turnover intentions, ultimately undermining the quality of prehospital emergency care and adversely affecting both patient outcomes and EMTs' physical and psychological well-being. Accordingly, this study aimed to: (1) examine the effects of job engagement on burnout among EMTs; (2) an

Qualitative analysis of compassion satisfaction symptoms and experiences in speech therapists.

Little to no research focused on understanding of compassion satisfaction among speech therapists, despite the demanding nature of their helping profession. Our aim was to examine how they experience compassion satisfaction and what factors they perceive as fostering or inhibiting it in their work. A convenience sample of seven female speech therapists was selected based on the availability criteria using the snowball method. The age of the speech therapists ranged from 24 to 35 years. Data were collected via online in-depth interviews with open-ended questions that prompted participants to sh

Cognitive heterogeneity, health dynamics, and subjective well-being across adulthood: evidence from the German SOEP longitudinal panel.

BACKGROUND: Self-rated health is an important correlate of life satisfaction, but the strength of this association varies across individuals. The present study examined whether cognitive clusters derived from performance-based measures of verbal knowledge and response-time characteristics moderate the within-person association between changes in self-rated health and life satisfaction. METHODS: Performance-based cognitive measures from the German Socio-Economic Panel Innovation Sample (SOEP-IS) were used to derive cognitive profiles based on verbal knowledge, processing speed, and processing-

Exploring the Associations of Personality and Sexual Health Using the DSM-5 Alternative Model for Personality Disorders.

This study explored the relationships between sexual health indicators (i.e., sexual satisfaction, distress, and function) and the DSM-5 Alternative Model for Personality Disorders, a promising dimensional framework for assessing personality pathology. A sample of 489 participants seeking help in private practice clinics completed self-report measures of sexual satisfaction, distress, and function, as well as dyadic adjustment, psychological distress, romantic attachment, personality impairment, and pathological personality facets. Results first showed that participants reaching the cutoffs fo

Work Stress and Personal and Relational Well-Being Among Chinese College Teachers: The Indirect Roles of Sense of Control and Work-Related Rumination.

PURPOSE: The association between work stress and well-being has been well documented. However, the underlying mechanism for such association is not clear, especially in terms of how work stress relates to both personal and relational well-being. Based on the Conservation of Resources Theory and the Stress Process Model, the present study examined the potential indirect roles of the sense of control and the work-related rumination in the associations between work stress and both personal and relational well-being. METHODS: Data were collected from 536 married Chinese university teachers (Mage

The effect of intrathecal baclofen treatment on activities of daily life in children and young adults with cerebral palsy and progressive neurological disorders.

INTRODUCTION: Intrathecal baclofen (ITB) treatment is applied in patients with spastic cerebral palsy (SCP), dystonic cerebral palsy (DCP) and progressive neurological disease (PND). Our aim was to investigate whether ITB treatment has a different effect on activities of daily life (ADL) in these groups. METHOD: A retrospective and cross-sectional survey was conducted using a questionnaire to assess the qualitative effect of ITB (Likert scale) on different domains of functioning (mobility, personal care, communication, comfort) and satisfaction with the results. Groups were compared using non

Acceptance of diagnosis and management satisfaction of patients with "suspected Lyme borreliosis" after 12 months in a multidisciplinary reference center: a prospective cohort study.

INTRODUCTION: Because patients with a "suspicion of Lyme borreliosis (LB)" may experience medical wandering and difficult care paths, often due to misinformation, multidisciplinary care centers were started all over Europe a few years ago. The aim of our study was to prospectively identify the factors associated with the acceptance of diagnosis and management satisfaction of patients, and to assess the concordance of the medical health assessment between physicians and patients 12 months after their management at our multidisciplinary center. METHODS: We included all adults who were admitted

The Brave Patient after 80-Satisfaction with Visit and Individual Determinants of Proactive Patient Attitude among the Oldest General Practice Users.

BACKGROUND: A patient's adherence to a course of treatment depends on the individual's activation, the quality of patient-clinician relations, attitudes, self-efficacy, or positive emotions. Patient proactive attitude (PAA) is seldom researched among the oldest healthcare users. This study was designed to identify predictors of PAA toward health and treatment among community-dwelling general practice patients aged 80+, and was based on a PRACTA (PRomoting ACTive Aging) project. METHODS: Patients (n = 658), aged 80+ visiting a general practitioner (GP) filled in the PRACTA attitude toward trea

Music and well-being in carceral settings: a scoping review.

Well-being is defined as the multi-dimensional experience of positive emotions, as well as life satisfaction, autonomy, and purpose. This scoping review examines the impact of musical practices on the well-being of incarcerated individuals and uniquely contributes to the literature by focusing on the relationship between music and power in carceral settings and by expounding on the ways in which musical practices both facilitate and inhibit experiences of well-being. Our review contributes to this body of literature by proposing three distinct ways musical practices may affect well-being: (1)
