Using autologous platelets labeled with indium-111-oxine, we studied the localization of platelets on arterial lesions by radionuclide scintigraphy in 34 patients with suspected cerebrovascular disease. The imaging results were compared with the findings of contrast angiography in 23 patients, 16 of whom were receiving antiplatelet and/or anticoagulant drugs during the platelet imaging study. BACKGROUND: ACE inhibitor renal scintigraphy is widely accepted as a useful test in screening of unilateral renal artery stenosis. Another screening examination is ultrasonography, which detects haemodynamic changes with evaluation of resistive index (RI). The aim of the present study was correlation of 99mTc-DTPA captopril renography and duplex ultrasound findings in diagnosis of renal artery stenosis before angiography, that is used as "gold standard". A 22-year-old healthy woman visited our clinic for seizure and consciousness loss. A thorough history taking and physical examination was negative except for persistent high blood pressure. Serial workup for suspicious secondary hypertension revealed secondary hyperaldosteronism. To assess the usefulness of radionuclide angiography for the identification and evaluation of patients with coronary heart disease, we analyzed 100 consecutive patients who had undergone that examination and coronary arteriography.
