Herein, we present a copper-mediated decarboxylative sulfonylation of arylacetic acids with sodium sulfinates that provides viable access to sulfone compounds. This protocol features readily available feedstocks, simple operations, high regioselectivities, and moderate to good yields. The newly obtained products could be converted to other useful compounds. Importantly, the products and their derivatives exhibited potent antitumor activities in vitro, which were tested by MTT assay.

Here, we report on an improved synthesis of the novel amino acid 2-thiohistidine and its Fmoc-derivative through the addition of sodium chloride to the isolation steps of each synthetic procedure. These compounds must be synthesized in either water or a mixture of water/organic solvent and have proven difficult to isolate by traditional methods. We studied in this work the compounds which affect the contraction of ciliary muscle and are potential ocular hypotensive drugs, and second messengers produced by the compounds. Using second-passaged porcine cultured ciliary muscle, single cell contraction was used for assay. Cell contraction by carbachol was affected by isobutyl methylxanthine, forskolin, dibutyryl cGMP and sodium nitroprusside (SNP). Sodium disulfite, also known as sodium metabisulfite or sodium pyrosulfite, is an inorganic compound, which may cause allergic contact dermatitis. Sulfites act as antioxidants and preservatives; common sources include food/beverages, pharmaceuticals, and personal care products. Importantly, sulfites are not included in most screening patch test series and thus may be missed as a relevant contact allergen. The American Contact Dermatitis Society chose sulfites as the Allergen of the Year for 2024 to raise awareness about this significant allergen.

The radiochemical purity of preparations for 99mTc-bone-scanning was tested using thin-layer chromatography and electrophoresis. The investigation included ten commercial kits, comprising four types of phosphorus compounds, i.e. sodium polyphosphate, sodium pyrophosphate, disodium diphosphonate, and sodium monofluorophosphate. Out-spoken differences in the content of free pertechnetate were found between the different kits. The contents in preparations from the same kit were fairly constant, but in some cases a change could be referred to the age of the 99mTc-generator or the time of analysis.
