OBJECTIVE: To illustrate the potential reconstructive opportunities that the Endotine suspension devices can provide for patients with soft tissue ptosis secondary to facial nerve dysfunction, posttraumatic deformity, and postablative deformity.
METHODS: A review was performed of 23 Endotine midface and eyebrow suspension devices in 10 patients with facial nerve sacrifice, facial trauma, or tumor extirpation.

A 38-week gestation female neonate with an antenatally diagnosed exomphalos major was born with respiratory insufficiency requiring initially high frequency oscillation, nitric oxide and inotropic support. The exomphalos was vertically stabilized by means of a novel technique prior to the application of a silo and formal closure. The technique is described and compared with others.

High-frequency subglottic jet ventilation was used in 142 consecutive adults with grade I airways treated with suspension microlaryngoscopy. All cases were managed by the senior anesthesiologist (AP) and the large majority by the senior surgeon (JR), between 2000 and 2002. The laser was used in 30% of cases. There were few complications, none serious, associated with this technique in this series. The subglottic catheter never proved impossible to insert and only needed to be replaced by the supraglottic catheter in two patients because of limitation of visualization of the posterior glottis.

A paradigm shift has occurred in the approach to enterocele repair and vaginal vault suspension. PURPOSE: To determine the effectiveness of transconjunctival frontalis suspension in patients with blepharoptosis and poor levator function (eyelid excursion less then 5 mm).
METHODS: The medical records of 29 patients (50 ptotic eyelids) were reviewed.
RESULTS: Four patients (eight eyelids) had blepharophimosis syndrome, ten patients (27 eyelids) had congenital ptosis, seven patients (14 eyelids) had myogenic ptosis, and one patient (one eyelid) had neurogenic ptosis. Surgical results were good and complications were minimal during follow-up intervals ranging from six months to seven years.

Teloscopy, a method of suprapubic cystoscopy, involves placing a telescope into the dome of a full bladder to examine the bladder interior. OBJECTIVE: To present a latex finger tip protector designed to reduce the risk of finger tip injury during needle suspensions for correction of stress urinary incontinence.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: The latex finger tip protector is placed over the gloved tip of the index finger. The suture carrier is kept in contact with the protected finger tip during passages through the abdominal fascia and retropubic space.

A new technique for the correction of malpositioned ears in congenital or acquired disorders is described. The use of a fascia lata strip makes a rigid fixation of the ear to the pericranium possible without total fixation of the ear in all directions. From 1988 to 1992, 78 patients with genuine stress urinary incontinence underwent bladder neck suspension under ultrasonic monitoring. Tightness of suspension was adjusted by setting posterior urethrovesical angle to approximately 90 degree by transrectal ultrasonography during operation. Like the transabdominal bladder neck suspension, the aim of the transvaginal needle suspension of the bladder neck is to suspend the bladder neck and urethra in a fixed retropubic position. Because the transvaginal technique does not require the splitting of the abdominal wall fascia, postoperative discomfort and convalescence may be lessened. Different techniques of transvaginal needle bladder neck suspension, including suspension of the bladder neck with a fascial sling, are discussed in detail.
