Pure primary ovarian carcinoid tumors are uncommon and only 21 cases have been recorded in the literature. In the past 15 years, we have seen two cases. One was a strumal carcinoid and the other, the case presented here, was a primary ovarian carcinoid tumor arising from the left ovary of a 25-year-old woman who had no carcinoid syndrome. The tumor was made up of pure carcinoid tumor without other teratomatous elements. On light microscopy the neoplasm, composed of uniform tumor cells, was arranged in solid nests or a trabecular pattern. The differential diagnosis included granulosa cell tumor

A 7-cm anterior mediastinal tumor in an 80-year-old woman was found by light and electron microscopy to be a neuroblastoma. Immunoreactivity for neuron-specific enolase, synaptophysin, and chromogranin supported the diagnosis. Neuroblastoma is an uncommon tumor in adults and we are not aware of a previous report of such a tumor in a patient of this age.

Well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors of the testis are exceedingly rare. Here, we report the case of a 47-year-old male patient complaining of cardiac symptoms with a right testicular mass. A right radical orchiectomy was performed. The histopathological findings showed a well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumor with positive synaptophysin and chromogranin A immunostains.

Neuroendocrine cells were identified in human dental pulp by immunohistochemical method using monoclonal antibodies. A population of neuroendocrine cells positively reacting to neuron-specific enolase, synaptophysin, chromogranin A, and stained with paraldehyde-fuchsin, was detected in the subodontoblastic layer of the pulp. Changes in their count, morphology, and function in caries and pulpitis concomitant with periodontitis were proven.

OBJECTIVES: To assess whether the rate of change in synaptic proteins isolated from neuronally enriched extracellular vesicles (NEVs) is associated with brain and retinal atrophy in people with multiple sclerosis (MS).
