This case report describes a 77-year old woman with a leiomyosarcoma of subhepatic inferior caval vein. The presented symptom was unspecific abdominal pain. Ultrasound and CT suggested a primary liver tumor. MRI revealed retroperitoneal location of the neoplasm. The tumor was resected completely and ICV was replaced by a PTF-graft. Vascular leiomyosarcoma is a rare tumor entity, which often is diagnosed in advanced stage. Depending on location it can be mistaken for neoplasms of other organs.

Cervical paragangliomas are uncommon benign or malignant neoplasms, originated from the stem cells of the neural crest. Up to date it is still not easy to define properly their biological behaviour, the possible multicentric location and the association with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasias. After a wide review of recent diagnostic, pathological and clinical notions, the Authors report their experience, from 1970 to 1995, of 10 patients affected by sporadic paraganglioma and 1 by familial multicentric neoplasm localized on carotid bodies of both sides, left vagus nerve and left hypoglossus nerve.

Postradiation vascular tumors fall into two categories: (1) postradiation cutaneous angiosarcoma, malignant vascular neoplasms with significant morbidity and mortality; and (2) atypical vascular lesions (AVL), vascular tumors that reportedly behave in a benign manner. Postradiation vascular tumors not only present a therapeutic problem for clinicians, but they present an increasingly common diagnostic dilemma for pathologists. Although first described separately 15 years ago, the relationship between postradiation cutaneous angiosarcoma and AVL remains controversial. It appears that, in at lea…

Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia (ALHE) is an uncommon benign vascular lesion that is clinically characterized as papule or nodule and commonly found in the head-and-neck areas although rarely involve oral cavity. The etiology of ALHE is currently unknown, and various hypotheses include a reactive vascular proliferation, vascular malformation or neoplasm. ALHE is mostly occurs in middle-aged females and rare in children. Here, we are presenting a case of ALHE on lip in a 10-year-old female child.

BACKGROUND: Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia (ALHE) is a rare vascular proliferative disorder mainly located in the periauricular region. The etiopathogenesis of ALHE is unknown, and it is still controversial as to whether the entity represents a benign vascular neoplasm or an inflammatory process.
AIM: Recently, the intracytoplasmic staining pattern of Wilms tumor 1 (WT1) on immunohistochemistry has highlighted true vascular neoplasms, such as microvenular hemangioma, tufted angioma, and spindle cell hemangioma, which has made it helpful to distinguish ALHE from vascular malformat…

Cutaneous epithelioid angiomatoid nodule is a rare clinical entity that is common on the trunk and limbs. This is the first report of penile cutaneous epithelioid angiomatoid nodule. Although it is a benign entity, it must be differentiated from vascular neoplasms, as it can bear similar clinical and pathologic features.

Extracellular tumors found with the spermatic cord, known as neoplasms, are usually identified to be benign. However, the accurate and timely diagnosis of spermatic cord masses is highly crucial, especially when most results are often overlooked or unclear. In this review, we discuss the anatomy and embryology of the spermatic cord. Upon rooting these fundamental concepts, we discuss an array of benign and malignant neoplastic tumors, including their origin, pathological features, clinical evaluation and management, as well as other case-specific characteristics of unique presentation. Data collected over the past 8 years on the radiological appearance of common pediatric primary brain neoplasms are presented. An emphasis is placed on the newer radiological imaging modality of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Part I of this article emphasized the clinical evaluation of these brain neoplasms. Three hundred eighty-five children with known brain neoplasms ranging in age from newborn to 18 years were evaluated with one or all of the following radiological modalities: MRI, computed tomography (CT), water-soluble myelography (WSM), WSM with CT, and angiography. Contrast-enhanced

BACKGROUND & AIMS: Colorectal neoplasms and coronary artery disease have similar risk factors. Patients with established coronary artery disease have a high prevalence of colorectal neoplasms. However, little is known about the risk of colorectal neoplasms among individuals at risk for coronary artery disease.
METHODS: We performed a cross-sectional study of 3144 asymptomatic, average-risk individuals without history of coronary artery disease or other vascular disorders who received a screening colonoscopy examination from January to December 2010 at Konkuk University Medical Center in Seoul

OBJECTIVE: Anastomosing hemangioma (AH) is a novel tumor of vascular origin. Though well-documented in the kidney and retroperitoneum, only a single case has been documented in the head and neck, and AH in larynx has not been described.
METHODS: A 37-year-old male presented with difficulty in breathing, and hoarseness. Imaging revealed a lesion involving left paraglottic and cricothyroid spaces with destruction of cricoid cartilage, suggestive of a malignant cartilageneous neoplasm. Multiple biopsies were non-diagnostic.
RESULTS: Intraoperative frozen section during transcervical resection s

Splenic angiosarcoma is a very rare and aggressive neoplasm originating from the splenic vascular endothelium whose prognosis is very poor despite surgical treatment. Preoperative diagnosis using imaging tests is a challenge due to its similarity to other vascular splenic tumors. The most common treatment is splenectomy, although it is rarely curative because of the aggressive and metastatic nature of the disease.

The visceral mediastinum contains important vascular and non-vascular structures including the heart, great vessels, lymph nodes, and portions of the esophagus and trachea. Multiple imaging modalities, including chest radiography, computed tomography, MR imaging, and nuclear medicine studies, can be used to detect, diagnose, and characterize masses in this compartment. Lymphadenopathy is the most common process involving the visceral mediastinum and can be seen with a wide variety of diseases. Less commonly seen entities include foregut duplication cysts, neoplasms and other lesions arising fr

Vascular lesions comprise benign and malignant neoplasms as well as non-neoplastic conditions that may be located in various sites but only rarely in the pelvis or the retroperitoneum. In our study we describe five diverse and unusual cases of vascular lesions of the pelvis, retroperitoneum and colon in female patients: a case of retroperitoneal angiosarcoma, pelvic hemangioendothelioma, pelvic angiomyxoma, retroperitoneal lymphangioleiomyomatosis and a case of diffuse cavernous hemangiomatosis of the colon, with emphasis on their clinicopathological features and differential diagnosis. Congenital neck masses can be a developmental anomaly of cystic, solid, or vascular origin. They can also constitute neoplasms, including malignancies, although this is rare in the pediatric population. The history and examination can help quickly narrow the differential diagnosis. Imaging also plays an essential role in defining the characteristics and likely cause of neck masses. The most common neck masses in young children are thyroglossal duct cysts, branchial cleft anomalies, and dermoid cysts. Also important to consider in the differential diagnosis are solid tumors, such as teratomas,

Angiogenesis is a process of development of new vessels from the preexisting vascular network of a host. This is process which is seen in many physiological situations but it accompanies also a development of different lesions, i.e. neoplasms. Uterine fibroids are one of the most frequent lesions which affect human internal female genital tracts. Authors briefly review most important pro-angiogenic factors, based on their own observation as well as reviewing current literature. They pay much attention to vascular density which is significantly changed in the uterine tumors.

Chorioangioma of the placenta is a benign vascular growth most frequently. Many small neoplasms are missed in routine examination of the placenta. The large tumors cause problems for the clinical outcome of the pregnancy or delivery or for the infant. We report a giant chorioangioma of the placenta of ten centimeters diagnosed in delivery by cesarean section in women with gestation third without complications. The benign vascular growth to fetal surface of the placenta. The histological variety was an angioblastic. In this case complication maternal or infant were not diagnosed.

Noninvasive imaging of the vascular renal system is a common request in diagnostic radiology. Typical indications include suspected renovascular hypertension, vasculitis, neoplasm, vascular malformation, and structural diseases of the kidney. Profound knowledge of the renal anatomy, including vascular supply and variants, is mandatory for radiologists and allows for optimized protocolling and interpretation of imaging studies. Besides renal ultrasound, computed tomography and MR imaging are commonly requested cross-sectional studies for renal and renal vascular imaging. This article discusses

The technique, diagnostic results and significance as well as limitations of selective spinal angiography differential diagnosis of vertebro-spinal tumors and vascular malformations are described. By this angiographic examination, important preoperative information of exact size, extent and localisation of the neoplasms, the vascular supply and their topographical relation to the anterior spinal artery can be obtained. In spinal vascular malformations is the best method. Arterial embolisation of vascularised tumors or haemangiomas can be indicated to reduce the risk of intraoperative bleeding.
