This method represents only the second general method for the coupling of aryl chlorides. Other proazaphosphatranes possessing benzyl substituents also generate very active catalysts for Stille reactions. Noteworthy features of the method are: (a) commercial availability of ligand 1d, (b) the wide array of aryl chlorides that can be coupled, and (c) applicability to aryl, vinyl, and allyl tin reagents.

Two cases are reported of liver angiosarcoma occurring among polyvinyl chloride (PVC) extruders from a small Italian factory producing PVC bags and other containers. The possibility that PVC extrusion carries a risk of liver angiosarcoma is important because of the very large number of people working with extruding, manufacturing and handling PVC, as compared with the number of people working in PVC polymerization and/or VC production. In the past, the level of vinyl chloride (VC) concentration in PVC extrusion workplaces has been thought to be "safe".

This report describes the use of clear plastic bags on vinyl chloride-vinylidine chloride copolymer (also known as S Film) for the postoperative management of amputation stumps. The bags are shrunk to the stump by the application of heat and act as a primary dressing. Their use has been effective in controlling postoperative oedema and infection as well as giving the surgeon direct visual access to the stump without disturbing the wound. A case of a below-knee amputation managed by this method is described.
