We report a patient with a sufficiently thick cornea (593 microm) and no topographic signs of keratoconus preoperatively who developed iatrogenic keratoconus 2 months after repeat laser in situ keratomileusis (-4.00 -1.00 x 20) performed 5 months after the primary procedure (-10.50 -1.00 x 55). After penetrating keratoplasty, macrophotography showed severe multidirectional "macrostriae" of the stromal bed. On histologic evaluation, excessive thinning of the residual stromal bed to a minimum of 75 microm in the valleys and a maximum of 200 microm at the peaks of the macrostriae were documented.

OBJECTIVE: To report on the management of laryngoceles by CO2 laser-assisted endoscopic excision.
STUDY DESIGN: A 15-year retrospective study of 12 adult patients (7 men and 5 women) who presented with a laryngocele. We present the case of a glaucomatous young patient with onchocerciasis who developed a bilateral pre-equatorial scleral staphyloma with an important scleral thinness. The pathogenesis of anterior staphyloma is discussed: mechanical stress from very high ocular pressure, ocular onchocerciasis, scleral ischemia. A better understanding of scleral mechanical resistance could explain scleral thinness without any clinical scleritis.

Among 698 patients subjected to endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, an anomalous union of the pancreaticobiliary ductal system (AUPBD) was found in 6 patients (0.9%). Both laryngocele and laryngeal amyloidosis are uncommon, and simultaneous occurrences of these entities are extremely rare. A case of laryngeal amyloidosis with laryngocele in which the computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging of the larynx, clearly demonstrating both disease processes, is discussed. Diagnosis is confirmed by histopathologic specimens. Only two cases have been reported in the world literature, and this is the third case of laryngeal amyloidosis associated with laryngocele.

We report an iatrogenic corneal ectasia that developed after laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) in a case of forme fruste keratoconus. One month postoperatively, corneal topography revealed a central steep area that showed rapid progression. Visual acuity in the eye decreased from 20/20 to 20/80. Corneas with forme fruste keratoconus may have altered biomechanical properties compared with normal corneas. Forme fruste keratoconus may be a contraindication for LASIK.
