The argon laser was used in 30 persons with various lesions of the alimentary canal. Of 17 patients with an intensive haemorrhage (gastric or duodenal ulcer, gastric erosions, haemorrhage after an endoscopic polypectomy) the treatment was successful in 15 cases. Two hundred and fifty-seven Egyptian patients were classified into three groups: patients with schistosomal colonic polyposis, those with simple schistosomiasis without polyposis, and a non-schistosomal group. INTRODUCTION: Double balloon enteroscopy (DBE) is a new endoscopic method for the examination of the small intestine.
OBJECTIVE: To determine the diagnostic yield and therapeutic utility of DBE.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: All patients undergoing DBE using a Fuji-non intestinoscope for suspected small bowel diseases during a 2 1/2 year period were studied in a prospective single-center cohort study.
