Cresyl violet and cresyl red, components of commercial cresyl violet acetate, were separated and purified using preparative column liquid chromatography. The stationary phase was silica gel and gradient elution was carried out using chloroform:methanol. A weak CH/O hydrogen-bonded organic framework (HOF) with both rigidity and flexibility that could easily and reversibly switch from a non-crystalline to a crystalline phase was constructed. The specific solvent molecule acts as a "key" to control the crystallinity, while the highly rigid triangle macrocycle as the building block is the "lock". The introduction and removal of the "key" could influence the local flexibility of the whole framework and lead to switchable crystallinity. Furthermore, the obtained HOF exhibits excellent separation efficiency for benzene and cyclohexane (94.4 %).

An isocratic chiral HPLC method was developed for the separation of tolterodine tartarate enantiomers. The mobile phase consists of n-hexane and isopropyl alcohol in the ratio of 980:20 (v/v) with 1 ml diethylamine and 0.6 ml trifluoroacetic acid. Chiralcel OD-H (250 mm x 4.6mm) column was used at constant room temperature. Flow rate was kept at 0.5 ml/min. This method is capable of detecting the S-isomer up to 0.1 microg/ml. The method was validated in terms of linearity, precision, limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ).
