Twin lambs were divided into two groups: an unmothered group consisting of one of each pair of twins separated from its mother at birth, and a mothered group consisting of the other member of each pair reared by its mother. Lambs in both groups were placed individually on a "visual cliff" once every hour. Peste des petits ruminants virus (PPRV) is a highly contagious morbillivirus affecting small ruminants. PPRV infection leads to a range of clinical signs, including fever, respiratory distress and diarrhoea. Sarcocystis spp. are widely distributed apicomplexan protozoa that infect sheep and other domestic animals. In Mexico, ovine sarcocystosis has been documented mainly through gross inspection and histopathology, while region-specific molecular data remain limited. In this study, we provide the first PCR-based molecular evidence of Sarcocystis spp. in sheep from Aguascalientes, Mexico.
