INTRODUCTION: Cryoprecipitate and its byproduct, cryosupernatant plasma (CSP) have been used to treat specific medical diseases such as hemophilia, von Willebrand disease and thrombotic thrombocytopenia purpura. Cryoprecipitate is also widely used to prepare fibrin glue. In many instances, it is given to augment fresh frozen plasma when patients are bleeding. OBJECTIVE: To analyze a family where some members were suspected as rare ABw31 subtype.
METHODS: Serological assay was performed to identify the ABO blood group of the proband and other family members. Genotypes for exons 6 and 7 of the ABO gene were determined with sequence-specific primer polymerase chain reaction (SSP-PCR) and direct sequencing.

The impact of ABO incompatibility on clinical outcomes following haematopoietic SCT (HSCT) remains controversial. Among the 763 patients with ulcers and stomach cancer, including the control group of 586 blood donors, the search for a relationship between the spread of infection and the main blood groups was defined by the appearance of IgG against H. pylori in blood plasma (the ELISA test). The statistical analysis, however, did not prove that the frequency of the appearance of specific antibodies against H. pylori was statistically important in relation to the ABO blood groups.

Repeated transfusions of small increments of blood are frequently required for the sick newborn infant to correct endogenous hypovolemia and/or to replace blood obtained repeatedly for monitoring purposes. Current practices of blood banks are rarely geared to supply the small amounts of blood used for these individual transfusions. ABO-incompatible kidney transplantation (ABO-ILKT) has been reported to have a higher rate of early complications and higher medical costs than ABO-compatible kidney transplantation (ABO-CLKT). We aimed to compare the clinical outcomes, complications, and medical costs between ABO-ILKTs and ABO-CLKTs at 2 years post-transplantation.
