METHOD: We collected 130 short semi-structured interviews following treatment sessions from 30 participants with ADHD receiving NF using slow cortical potential training (SCP). The interviews were transcribed verbatim and analyzed using thematic analysis. Themes where evaluated for changes over-time and between participants with high/low treatment compliance. Interviews from 14 participants who had undergone at least five completed interviews were examined in more depths, aiming to establish typical strategy/training profiles.
RESULTS: We identified 16 strategies covering four domains: cognit

Cognitive impairments in Parkinson's disease (PD) often emerge alongside motor symptoms, yet most clinical assessments examine these domains separately. This mixed-design study explores the utility of a virtual reality-based Color Trails Test (VR-CTT) as an integrated, immersive tool to assess motor-cognitive interaction in PD. Twenty-three individuals with PD (ON medication) and twenty-three age- and education-matched healthy controls completed both the standard pen-and-paper CTT and the VR-CTT, which preserves the same cognitive demands while introducing an upper-limb motor component through

BACKGROUND: Brain injury is a major public health issue causing cognitive impairment. Key types include traumatic, ischemic, neurological, infectious, metabolic injuries, and stroke. As populations age, brain injury rates rise, making effective cognitive rehabilitation methods increasingly urgent. Virtual reality sports games, blending immersion and training, offer a new rehab solution.
METHODS: Firstly, we registered in the International Prospective Systematic Review Registry (PROSPERO) website. A total of 12 randomized controlled trials were included in this Meta-analysis. Data were analyze

OBJECTIVE: This study aims at investigating the effect of dance on rehabilitation training after COVID-19.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: In this study, a total of 112 patients with COVID-19 were recruited for rehabilitation training. Before enrollment, a neurologist conducted medical history inquiry, basic information collection, MMSE (MiniMental State Examination), MoCA (Montreal Cognitive Assessment) and MHIS (Mental Health Information Systems) assessment. In the end, 68 patients with COVID-19 who met the entry criteria and signed the informed consent were included in the training. 8 patients with

STUDY OBJECTIVE: "Blind" procedures are performed without visual feedback and rely on haptics to complete the operation safely "by feel." Current training methods, including static models, cadaver sections, or supervised practice on patients, are expensive, time-consuming, and could impact patient safety. Simulation trainers that provide haptic feedback are still limited in their ability to reproduce realistic feel and accurately provide performance data. This study describes the concept, development, and usability evaluation of the SlingVR Surgical Training System for "blind" procedures.

Music's role in modulating brain structure, particularly in neurodegenerative contexts such as Alzheimer's Disease (AD), has been increasingly recognized. While previous studies have hinted at the potential neuroplastic benefits of musical engagement and training, the mechanisms through which music impacts structural connectivity in neurodegenerative pathways remain underexplored. We aimed to examine the impact of music perception skills, active musical engagement, and musical training on structural connectivity in areas relating to memory, emotion, and learning in individuals with worsening m

BACKGROUND: Lumbar Spinal Stenosis (LSS) may present with balance disorder and risk of falling as a result of posture problems. The aim of the present study was to compare the effects of single-task and dual-task balance exercise programs on balance performance and activity-specific balance confidence in adults with LSS.
METHODS: Forty-three patients with LSS over the age of 65 were randomly divided into 2 groups as single-task balance training (group 1, n=21) and double-task balance training (group 2, n=22). Patients in both groups were given exercises by an experienced physiotherapist. Only

AIM: Reversible cognitive frailty (RCF) is an ideal target to prevent asymptomatic cognitive impairment and dependency. This study aimed to develop and validate prediction models for incident RCF.
METHODS: A total of 1230 older adults aged ≥60 years from China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study 2011-2013 survey were included as the training set. The modified Poisson regression and three machine learning algorithms including eXtreme Gradient Boosting, support vector machine and random forest were used to develop prediction models. All models were evaluated internally with fivefold cross-

Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) is a condition characterized by a decline in cognitive abilities, specifically in memory, language, and attention, that is beyond what is expected due to normal aging. Detection of MCI is crucial for providing appropriate interventions and slowing down the progression of dementia. There are several automated predictive algorithms for prediction using time-to-event data, but it is not clear which is best to predict the time to conversion to MCI. There is also confusion if algorithms with fewer training weights are less accurate. We compared three algorithms, from

The diagnostic and clinical overlap of early mild cognitive impairment (EMCI), mild cognitive impairment (MCI), late mild cognitive impairment (LMCI) and Alzheimer disease (AD) is a vital oncological issue in dementia disorder. This study is designed to examine Whole brain (WB), grey matter (GM) and Hippocampus (HC) morphological variation and identify the prominent biomarkers in MR brain images of demented subjects to understand the severity progression. Curve evolution based on shape constraint is carried out to segment the complex brain structure such as HC and GM. Pre-trained models are us

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the effects of dual-task training compared to single-task training on dual-task performance in chronic ankle instability (CAI).
DESIGN: Single-blinded randomized controlled trial. Forty individuals with CAI were allocated to dual-task training (n = 20) or balance training (n = 20) for eight weeks. Outcomes included the Time in Balance Test (TBT), Star Excursion Balance Test (SEBT), and hop tests.
RESULTS: Significant group × time interactions were found for the TBT (P<0.001), the SEBT-anterior (P=0.002), the SEBT composite (P=0.009), side hop test (P<0.001) and figure

Synesthesia is associated with additional perceptual experiences, which are automatically and consistently triggered by specific inducing stimuli. Synesthesia is also accompanied by more general sensory and cortical changes, including enhanced modality-specific cortical excitability. Extensive cognitive training has been shown to generate synesthesia-like phenomenology but whether these experiences are accompanied by neurophysiological changes characteristic of synesthesia remains unknown. Addressing this question provides a unique opportunity to elucidate the neural basis of perceptual plasti…

BACKGROUND: Reversion from mild cognitive impairment (MCI) to normal cognition (NC) is not uncommon and indicates a better cognitive trajectory. This study aims to identify predictors of MCI reversion and develop a predicting model.
METHOD: A total of 391 MCI subjects (mean age = 74.3 years, female = 61 %) who had baseline data of magnetic resonance imaging, clinical, and neuropsychological measurements were followed for two years. Multivariate logistic analyses were used to identify the predictors of MCI reversion after adjusting for age and sex. A stepwise backward logistic regression model

Normal aging is associated with brain atrophy and cognitive decline. Working memory, involved in cognitive functioning and daily living, is particularly affected. Music training gained momentum in research on brain plasticity and possible transfer effects of interventions on working memory, especially in the context of healthy aging. This longitudinal voxel-based morphometry study evaluated effects of 6-month music interventions on grey matter volume plasticity and auditory working memory performance in 132 healthy older adults. This study is part of a randomized controlled trial comparing two

BACKGROUND: Previous research has implicated demographic, psychological, behavioral, and cognitive variables in the onset and maintenance of pediatric overweight/obesity. No adequately-powered study has simultaneously modeled these variables to assess their relative associations with body mass index (BMI; kg/m2) in a nationally representative sample of youth.
METHODS: Multiple machine learning regression approaches were employed to estimate the relative importance of 43 demographic, psychological, behavioral, and cognitive variables previously associated with BMI in youth to elucidate the ass
