Hip arthroscopy is one of the most rapidly growing areas in orthopaedic surgery because of increased awareness of nonarthritic hip pathologies, advanced imaging modalities, and advanced techniques to reproducibly manage nonarthritic hip pathologies within a deep soft-tissue envelope and a constrained joint. In addition, more academic medical centers are providing residents with education on hip arthroscopy, and many hip preservation fellowships and courses are helping increase awareness of nonarthritic hip pathologies. Zero echo time (ZTE) imaging is an MRI technique that produces images similar to those obtained with radiography or CT. In ZTE MRI, the very short T2 signal from the mineralized trabecular bone matrix and especially cortical bone-both of which have a low proton density (PD)-is sampled in a unique sequence setup. We present a technical note and 3 case reports of all-on-4 treatment of highly resorbed maxillas. The use of 4 angled implants, placed at as much as 30 degrees off axis, that engage the lateral nasal wall bone provide high torque fixation for immediate temporization. The occurrence of combined injury of intrusion, avulsion and lateral luxation is rare and the mechanism responsible for this is intriguing. This case report describes such a combined injury and its management. The rationale behind the treatment modalities is discussed.
