BACKGROUND: Implanted venous access devices or permanent central venous access systems (PCVASs) are routinely used in oncologic patients. Complications can occur during the implantation or use of such devices. We describe such complications of the PCVAS and their management.

BACKGROUND: The efficacy and complications of covered self-expandable metal stents (SEMS) remain controversial.
OBJECTIVE: We conducted this study to compare the efficacies and complication rates of covered and uncovered SEMS in malignant biliary obstruction.
DESIGN: Data on patients who underwent endoscopic retrograde biliary drainage with covered or uncovered Wallstents for the palliation of unresectable distal malignant biliary obstruction were collected. Stent patency, complications, and causes of stent occlusion were analyzed.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Histopathologic analysis was performed to better understand quantity, particle size, and composition of embolized debris collected in protection filters during carotid artery stent implantation.

In a population-based case-control study of breast cancer that included 2174 cases and 2009 population controls under 55 years of age, prior breast implants were reported by 36 cases versus 44 controls.
