OBJECTIVES: This study aims to investigate the effects of the removal of Merocel nasal packs on patients' anxiety after septoplasty.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Fifty patients (26 males, 24 females; mean age 30 years; range 18 to 56 years) who underwent septoplasty in the Department of Ear Nose and Throat of our hospital between January 2013 and January 2015 were enrolled in this prospective study. OBJECTIVE: To compare Rapid Rhino and Merocel packs for nasal packing after septoplasty, in terms of patient tolerance (both with the pack in place and during removal) and post-operative complications.

The most common cause of intra-abdominal adhesions is previous intra-abdominal surgical intervention. Up to 74% of intestinal obstructions are caused by post surgical adhesions. PURPOSE: To investigate the influence of three lubricants of varying viscosity, on postinsertion and 6 h comfort with contact lens wear.
METHODS: Comfort and associated symptoms of dryness were assessed in 15 experienced contact lens wearers. Subjects wore a low Dk lens in one eye and a silicone hydrogel in the other and participated in four separate trials involving no lubricant (baseline), saline, and two commercially available lubricants of differing viscosity. The in-eye lubricants were used immediately following lens insertion and every 2 h postinsertion for a 6 h wear period.

The oral administration of insulin in poly(vinyl alcohol)-gel spheres (PVA-GS), an oral dosage form with prolonged residence time in the ileum, was examined in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.
