AIMS: To determine whether alpha smooth muscle actin (alpha-SMA), a marker for myofibroblastic cells, is present in lens epithelial cells (LECs) in rabbit aphakic eyes.

Visual improvement was achieved in 62% of 100 consecutive patients with ocular trauma treated by pars plana vitrectomy. INTRODUCTION: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) remains a significant source of disability for active duty service members in both deployed and training settings as well as those who have left active service. BACKGROUND: Lacrimal caruncular tumors are rare and exhibit a diversity of possible histopathological types. The majority of caruncular tumors are benign, followed by premalignant and malignant lesions, which are associated with a poorer prognosis. Clinical diagnosis is challenging. Therefore, a tissue biopsy is considered and performed based on the presence of features suggesting malignant or undetermined tumors for a definite diagnosis and proper management. The coexistence of different types of benign caruncular tumors is extremely rare and has been rarely described.
