PURPOSE: Since some patients develop depigmentation of the trabecular meshwork in the course of Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) disease, we examined the incidence of trabecular depigmentation and its correlation with other ocular findings and systemic symptoms.
METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the clinical charts of 53 Japanese patients diagnosed with VKH disease. The scores of trabecular and limbal pigmentation of all patients were recorded. We then examined the correlation between trabecular pigmentation and the presence of sunset glow fundus or skin lesions.

Hypopigmented mycosis fungoides (MF) is a rare variant of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. To date, there have been no data published about the efficacy of a twice-weekly regimen of narrowband ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) for the treatment of hypopigmented MF. We retrospectively reviewed 11 patients with hypopigmented MF who were treated with NB-UVB twice weekly between 2001 and 2010. Of the 11 patients, 7 achieved a complete response with a mean of 40 treatments; the remaining 4 patients had a partial response. BACKGROUND: While vitiligo is usually idiopathic, some cases are caused by chemicals. If occupational exposure to p-tert-butylphenol (ptBP) leads to vitiligo, the legal requirements for occupational disease Nr. 1314 can be fulfilled in Germany. Chemicals of similar structure can induce local and more widespread symmetrical depigmentation with genital involvement, making the differential diagnosis more complicated. Occupationally caused depigmentation from other chemicals can also be treated according to § 9 sec. 2 of the occupational disease regulations.

Tuberous sclerosis is an autosomal dominant disease that results from mutations in one of two tumor suppressor genes, TSC1 and TSC2. We are reporting a two-year-old girl who presented with hypopigmented macules (ash leaf) in the skin and small erythematous facial papules (angiofibromas). Her mother was known to have tuberous sclerosis that was diagnosed at age seven. Although the signs of tuberous sclerosis were specifically looked for in this patient because of her mother, subtle angiofibromas in a young child can be easily missed.

PURPOSE: To report on five cases of unusual bilateral stromal depigmentation of the iris and pigment dispersion masquerading as uveitis.

Potassium hydroxide (KOH) is a strong alkali that has long been known to digest proteins, lipids, and most other epithelial debris of skin scrapings to identify fungal infections. To our knowledge, KOH has never been used for the treatment of molluscum contagiosum (MC).
