CASE REPORT: We report on a 37-year old patient with sudden onset of pain of the right scalp and an ipsilateral small pupil, presenting five weeks after chiropractic manipulation of the neck.
METHODS/RESULTS: Pharmacologic pupil testing showed a postganglionic Horner's syndrome on the right side. Magnetic resonance angiography confirmed the diagnosis of a dissection of the right internal carotid artery at a subacute stage.

Spontaneous dissection of the internal carotid artery as a cause of Horner's syndrome has only been recognized in recent years. The authors describe three patients with this condition. Associated symptoms included ipsilateral orbital and frontal headache (3 patients), neck and facial pain (2), amaurosis fugax (1), and dysgeusia (1). PURPOSE: Urinary incontinence is one of the major prostate cancer treatment-related morbidities. We review our initial robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RALP) experience, focusing on post-surgery continence rates.

We reviewed our experience with 66 patients who had 85 jugular node dissections (JND) between 1984 and 1991. When JND was used as a staging procedure in 56 patients with N0 squamous carcinoma of the larynx or hypopharynx, it identified 15 of 19 patients (79%) who had occult metastases. The pattern of neck failure in six patients after JND strongly suggests that the dissection must be carried posterior to the internal jugular vein in order to achieve adequate sampling. Between January 1971 and December 1986, 55 patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue base underwent complete surgical resection with curative intent. No preoperative or postoperative adjuvant therapy was administered. The study group consisted of 41 men and 14 women (median age 61 years). This study compared the risk of nodal metastasis progression in the submandibular area when using submental flap contralateral (SFC) or submental flap ipsilateral (SFI) relative to the tumor side. BACKGROUND: The oncologic and functional outcome of transoral laser microsurgery (TLM) for primary treatment of hypopharyngeal cancer was examined in a multimodal treatment concept.
