All patients with injuries to the solid organs of the abdomen and who are hemodynamically stable should be considered candidates for nonoperative management after their injuries have been staged by abdominal CT scanning, but because the CT stage of the injury does not always predict which patients require laparotomy, these patients must remain under the care of experienced trauma surgeons who can not only recognize the presence of an associated hollow viscus injury in need of repair but also will be readily available to operate if the nonoperative approach fails. This report deals with a morphometrical study on 92 surgically removed human spleens, to investigate the composition of spleens which are considered to be normal, i.e. spleens which had ruptured in traffic accidents or which had been incidentally removed during abdominal operations. OBJECTIVE: To assess gastric trocarization and orogastric tubing as a means of gastric decompression for the initial management of gastric dilatation-volvulus.
METHODS: Retrospective review of 116 gastric dilatation-volvulus cases from June 2001 to October 2009.
RESULTS: Decompression was performed via orogastric tubing in 31 dogs, gastric trocarization in 39 dogs and a combination of both in 46 dogs. BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to report outcome and complications of endovascular therapy for visceral artery aneurysms (VAA).
METHODS: Forty endovascular procedures for VAAs were performed in 33 patients between 2009 and 2014.
RESULTS: The main indications was size (N.=15), bleeding (N.=14) and mycotic aneurysm (N.=3). The splenic artery was the most common artery of true aneurysms (11/16) and pseudo aneurysms due to pancreatitis (5/14). The median size of the true aneurysms was 24 mm (range 15-65).
