METHODS: The study consisted of 301 Chinese individuals with a mean age of 23.9 ± 22.6 years and mean axial length of 24.8 ± 4.2 mm. An 83-year-old man presented with a 10-day history of decreased vision in the left eye. He was found to have choroidal metastases from lung adenocarcinoma that exhibited unilateral septated cavitary subretinal fluid on spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (OCT). This fluid evolved into atypical lamellar sheets after treatment with systemic chemotherapy and orbital radiation prior to resolution. This is the first description demonstrating cavitary subretinal fluid pockets on spectral-domain OCT from lung cancer; attention is given to its unusual course and proposed pathogenesis.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to compare uveal melanomas (UMs) in men and women.
METHODS: The Liverpool Ocular Oncology Centre (LOOC) database was reviewed. Patients treated for UM at the LOOC between 1993 and 2010 were selected. Differences between sexes were identified using the χ (2)-test for categorical variables and the Mann-Whitney test for continuous variables.

PURPOSE: To report the results of plaque radiotherapy of ciliary body and choroidal melanoma with extraocular extension.
METHODS: This retrospective study of 17 eyes of 17 patients with ciliary body and choroidal melanoma demonstrated extraocular extension that was clinically evident but less than 3 mm in thickness. Presenting signs and symptoms of 193 patients with choroidal melanomas (followed for up to 152 months) were recorded using retrospective chart review. Eighty patients (41%) had no symptoms (the melanoma was found during routine ophthalmologic examination in 65 patients and during treatment for other eye problem in 15 patients). METHODS: The records of 143 consecutive patients diagnosed in the Ophthalmology Department of Gustave Roussy Institute between September 1994 and September 2001 were analyzed. The study included 66 females and 77 males, aged from 21 to 91 years (mean, 62.75 years).
