Klippel-Trénaunay syndrome (KTS) is a rare congenital malformation characterized by a triad of clinical presentations: (1) capillary malformations manifesting as a "port wine stain"; (2) limb hypertrophy; and (3) venous varicosities. It is distinguished from Parkes-Weber syndrome by the absence of substantial arteriovenous shunting. BACKGROUND: Vocal cord leukoplakia comprises a variety of lesions. The purpose of this study was to stratify vocal leukoplakias before surgery.
METHODS: Patients with an initial diagnosis of vocal leukoplakia who underwent surgical excision at a tertiary referral center in Taiwan were recruited for this study. Their clinical records, including age, sex, preoperative laryngoscopic images in the office setting, and final pathology reports were collected and analyzed.

INTRODUCTION: Managing Cushing's disease remains a challenge. Surgery is the first option of treatment and it offers a high success rate. Even in cases where biochemical remission is not achieved, it is crucial to obtain surgical tissue for morphological diagnosis because the therapeutic approach can be modified according to the findings.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A literature search was performed using PubMed for information regarding pathology and Cushing's disease.

A new classification of inherited ichthyoses is presented based on clinical features, genetic background and pathophysiology. Ichthyoses are disorders of cornification and may be part of syndromes. Ichthyosis vulgaris, X-linked ichthyosis, autosomal recessive congenital ichthyosis and syndrome-related variants are described. Severe forms can be potentially life-threatening. Dry scaly skin can be disabling and time-consuming, as the patient needs topical therapy and sometimes also systemic retinoids. Treatment today is symptomatic, but hopefully new knowledge will lead to targeted therapies.
