BACKGROUND: Impulsive buying behavior among youths, particularly in relation to clothing, represents a growing psychological and behavioral concern, often driven by cognitive distortions and difficulties in emotion regulation. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) has shown promise in addressing maladaptive cognitions and behaviors; however, its targeted application to impulsive clothing purchases remains underexplored. Therefore, this study examined the effect of CBT on impulsive clothing buying behavior among young adults, with a specific focus on cognitive distortions and emotion regulation di

INTRODUCTION: Therapeutic exercise has been used to improve cancer-related dysfunction. Recent studies suggest that exercise after chemotherapy can improve cancer-related cognitive impairment. However, the effect of exercise during chemotherapy in patients with breast cancer remains unclear. Aerobic dance is a comprehensive form of aerobic exercise which may be more easily accepted by female patients. The Aerobic Dance Against NeuroCognitive decline (ADANC) trial is designed to evaluate the effectiveness of aerobic dance during chemotherapy on breast cancer-related cognitive impairment. It aim

BACKGROUND: Tobacco use disorder (TUD) remains a global health crisis characterized by high relapse rates despite extensive cessation efforts. This study aims to enhance treatment outcomes by addressing the cognitive and neural imbalances associated with habitual and goal-directed behaviours among individuals with TUD. We hypothesise that by integrating high-intensity interval training (HIIT), cognitive remediation treatment (CRT) via app-based chess training and a standard smoking cessation program (SCP) for cognitive control and sleep quality will be improved, thereby facilitating smoking ce

BACKGROUND: Post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) not only increases patient mortality and disability, but also adversely affects motor function and the ability to perform routine daily activities. Current therapeutic approaches for, PSCI lack specificity, primarily relying on and medication and traditional cognitive therapy supplemented by a limited array of tools. Both transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and virtual reality (VR) training have demonstrated efficacy in improving cognitive performance among PSCI patients. Previous findings across various conditions suggest that imp

Association of cognitive deficits and diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is frequent. Working memory (WM) deficits result in impairment of daily activities, diminished functionality, and treatment compliance. Mounting evidence suggests that transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) with concurrent working memory training (WMT) ameliorates cognitive deficits. Emboldening results of tDCS were shown in DPN. The study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of anodal tDCS over the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) coupled with cathodal right DLPFC with concurrent WMT in DPN for the first t

Parental cognitive functioning is thought to play a key role in parenting behavior and may inform response to behavioral intervention. This open-label pilot study examined the extent to which parent and child cognition impacted response to behavioral parent training for children with ADHD. Fifty-four participants (27 parent-child dyads; Mages = 10.6 and 45.2 for children and parents, respectively) completed tasks assessing visuospatial and phonological working memory, inhibitory control, and choice-reaction speed at pre-treatment. Drift diffusion modeling decomposed choice-reaction time data i

Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disease that affects movement and cognitive function, resulting from the loss of the neurotransmitter dopamine due to the death of dopaminergic neurons. It affects nearly one million people in the United States and 8.5 million worldwide. While there are some pharmacological and surgical options available, they only provide symptomatic relief, as there is currently no cure for PD. In contrast, exercise training, a non-pharmacological intervention, has emerged as a powerful strategy to enhance the psychological, cognitive, and

Non-human primates, due to their similarities in immune response to humans, are the preferred model for studying infectious processes and any associated cognitive impairments. Behavioral tests are indispensable for investigating pathogenesis in neuroinfections, especially those that do not manifest with noticeable clinical symptoms, as well as in the transition to a chronic form of the disease. Modeling viral infection requires specialized experimental conditions. Our work describes techniques for investigating mnemonic functions, tiredness, attentional focus, quick-wittedness, and basic behav

Former studies on the effects of physical exercise, physical and occupational therapy (PT, OT) and speech and swallowing therapy (ST, SwT) in Parkinson's disease (PD) have demonstrated little or uncertain effects. New pathophysiological concepts have been developed. Recent controlled high-level studies demonstrate improvement of mobility and balance after training of muscular strength and endurance, trunk control, and amplitude and rhythmicity of movements (treadmill). Attentional and cognitive strategies were found to enforce body awareness and improve movement sequences. Dance, sensory (audi

At Digestive Disease Week 2025, practicing and training gastroenterologists participated in a pioneering day-long course illustrating the future of endoscopy education. The 5-hour international workshop focused on the management of flat neoplasms and malignant polyps, employed expert performance cognitive task analysis, case-based simulation, interactive polling, and structured feedback to teach how to do rather than what to know. In a single-group pre-post design, knowledge increased from 67.9% to 84.0% (P<.001; d = 1.34), and self-efficacy improved across recognition and performance domains.

Psychosocial family-based interventions--family therapy, cognitive-behavioral parent training and family-based treatment protocols--are empirically supported treatments for children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), oppositional defiant disorder, and conduct disorder. Well-researched interventions such as remote and group-based parent training programs relate to improvements in parenting quality, positive parenting, and the child's decreased ADHD and conduct behavioral problems, whereas individual family-based treatments are sometimes required, depending on symptom severity
