Missing teeth in the esthetic zone, whether congenital or as a result of other factors, present difficult choices in clinical management. The missing teeth can be replaced by surgical or restorative intervention but are often treated orthodontically. These repositioned teeth often lead to an unaesthetic result because of differences in morphology, color, and particularly in gingival architecture. This article describes the use of multiple lasers for periodontal modification and feldspathic porcelain veneers to achieve a highly esthetic result.

The rehabilitation of eroded teeth in patients suffering from bulimia nervosa generally includes ceramics. This study compared the roughness of three ceramics before and after exposure to simulated vomit solution (SVS) with a pH of 3.8. Mice were protected against subsequent infection with Schistosoma mansoni by intradermal or s.c. vaccination with killed schistosomula or soluble parasite extracts and bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG). Aceglutamide aluminium (AGA, KW-110, Glumal) at doses of 30-100 mg/kg p.o. prevented the formation of the gastric lesions induced by three noxious compounds, ethanol, HCl and acidified taurocholate, all dose-dependently. This article demonstrates the use of a smile evaluation form as an adjunct in arriving at diagnosis and developing a treatment plan for a patient desiring Diastema closure. It also shows the importance of the diagnostic wax-up for temporization and visualization of case outcome. The case also demonstrates the use of soft tissue lasers to create a gingival harmony that enhanced the resulting esthetics. Feldspathic porcelain was used for the final restorations because they provide optimal esthetics and translucency.

Congenitally missing canines are challenging to treat because of their unique role in the masticatory system and the fact that they are in the esthetic zone.
