OBJECTIVE: This study was conducted to examine the clinical profile of patients with adhesive capsulitis (AC) and evaluate various possible etiological factors.
METHODS: The study was conducted in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Srinagar, Kashmir, India. One hundred patients fulfilling the criteria for the diagnosis of AC were studied for the severity of shoulder pain and the range of shoulder movements. The patients were also examined for the presence of various etiological factors for AC.
RESULTS: Age of the subjects ran

Erdheim-Chester disease is a non-langerhans cell histiocytosis. It is a rare and plurifocal disease. Retroperitoneal involvement manifests as a mass associated with fibrosis, which is well visualized on CT scan and MRI. This disease is characterized by its potential to involve the whole retroperitoneum. We report a case of this disease that developed over twenty years, consisting of renal arteries stenosis, bilateral ureteral stenosis and evolutive adhesive capsulitis.

An open non-comparative study was conducted to assess the efficacy and tolerability of piroxicam in patients with acute musculoskeletal disease. A total of 3011 patients of both sexes, aged between 18 and 70, were treated with piroxicam: 4 capsules (40 mg) after dinner, on the first two days and two capsules (20 mg) on the following days. Patients were evaluated for a maximum period of 14 days. Assessment of efficacy was made including local pain and limitation of mobility. The patients' self-assessment of pain was also analyzed. A clear improvement in each of the parameters analyzed was found

INTRODUCTION: Greater trochanteric pain syndrome is a common incapacitating hip condition characterized by chronic lateral hip pain. This condition includes a range of pathologies ranging from trochanteric bursitis, hip abductor pathology involving the gluteus medius and minimum, external coxa saltans (snapping hip syndrome), or combinations of these. Hip abductor tendon tears have gained recognition as a main contributor to this condition. This pathology is often misdiagnosed and left untreated because of the frequency of partial-thickness undersurface tears. Once this challenging diagnosis i…

Greater trochanteric pain syndrome (GTPS) is a term used to describe disorders of the peritrochanteric region. This constellation of conditions includes greater trochanteric bursitis, gluteus medius (GM) tears, and external coxa saltans or snapping hip syndrome. Tears of the abductor mechanism, more specifically gluteus medius tears, have recently gained a considerable amount of interest in the orthopaedic literature. Abductor tears were first described by Bunker and Kagan in the late 1990s. They used the rotator cuff as an analogous structure to describe the pathological process associated wi…

BACKGROUND: Regional pain in the hip in adults is a common cause of a general practitioner visit. A considerable part of patients suffer from (greater) trochanteric pain syndrome or trochanteric bursitis. Local corticosteroid injections is one of the treatment options. Although clear evidence is lacking, small observational studies suggest that this treatment is effective in the short-term follow-up. So far, there are no randomised controlled trials available evaluating the efficacy of injection therapy. This study will investigate the efficacy of local corticosteroid injections in the trochan…

BACKGROUND: Brucellosis, as a zoonotic disease, mainly occurs in horses by Brucella abortus, Brucella canis and Brucella suis. The disease in equines is often asymptomatic, but the clinical signs in horses are mostly characterized by bursitis, arthritis and tenosynovitis.
OBJECTIVES: This study, thus, aimed to determine the seroprevalence of brucellosis and its associated risk factors in the Arabian horses of Khuzestan province, South-west Iran.
METHODS: To that end, the blood samples randomly collected from 180 Arabian horses were analyzed for the presence of anti-Brucella antibodies by Ros…

BACKGROUND: Adhesive capsulitis, commonly known as frozen shoulder, presents with pain and restricted movement. Treatments include physical therapy focusing on stretching exercises, intra-articular corticosteroid injections, and surgical intervention if conservative management fails. The efficacy of robot-assisted rehabilitation therapy (RART) for adhesive capsulitis remains unexplored, necessitating clinical application and analysis.
METHODS: A prospective, randomized controlled trial was conducted involving patients aged 20 to 60 years diagnosed with adhesive capsulitis. Participants were r
