The reversal of diastolic cerebral blood flow has been regarded as a characteristic waveform of brain death and a useful confirming sign. We report 2 patients who had diastolic flow reversal but survived. One, a 1-month-old boy with status epilepticus, had reversal of diastolic cerebral blood flow detected by Doppler ultrasound soon after admission. Choroid plexus papillomas are usually easily distinguishable from papillary ependymomas by their delicate fibrovascular stroma and their cytologic similarity to normal choroid plexus epithelium. Exceptionally, however, examples are met which give rise to diagnostic difficulty. A fetus affected by trisomy 18 was observed serially on ultrasound from 14 to 21 weeks of gestation. The earliest and sole dysmorphic feature noted at 14 weeks of gestation were nonseptated nuchal cysts. At 17 weeks the ultrasound examination was considered normal. However, at 21 weeks gestation, bilateral choroid plexus cysts, clubfoot, growth retardation and overlapping fingers were observed. These findings suggest that the dysmorphology associated with trisomy 18 is dynamic in nature and may change along the course of pregnancy.

This study explored the inhibitory impact of the anti-malarial drug Artesunate (ART) on CM VM through modulation of the HIF-1α/VEGF/PDGF pathway.
