A longitudinal outcome study was undertaken to identify variables that significantly influenced tooth survival as well as pulpal and periodontal outcomes for intruded permanent maxillary incisors of children and adolescents. All cases were treated between June 1988 and June 1998 in a teaching hospital clinic. We postulate that not all maxillofacial firearm injuries need be delayed and that many may be treated early. Data were collected from dental records at the Montreal Children's Hospital, Montreal, Canada, of patients sustaining trauma between 1982 and 1993.
