Pityrosporum and Candida-yeasts are opportunistic pathogens and infections require predisposing factors. These factors are also of major importance in treatment and the reason for recurrence and sometimes chronicity of the disease caused by these yeasts. Epidermodysplasia verruciformis (EDV) may clinically vary from pityriasis versicolor-like macules to wart-like flat papules, psoriasiform red papules, or pigmented keratotic lesions resembling seborrheic keratosis. Sun-exposed areas are commonly affected with genital areas rarely involved. It is associated with more than 30 human papillomaviruses (HPVs). In 90% cases of squamous cell carcinomas, HPV5 and HPV8 is isolated. A case of EDV with plane warts involving the genital area in a 35-year-old male is reported here.

Long-term methotrexate (MTX) treatment is known to cause MTX-associated lymphoproliferative disorder (MTX-LPD). A 58-year-old woman with psoriasis vulgaris and pityriasis rubra pilaris was treated with a combination of MTX and ustekinumab for 4 months when she developed generalized lymphadenopathy. The initial histopathological analysis indicated Hodgkin's lymphoma; however, assessing the patient's clinical history revealed the diagnosis of MTX-LPD. To our knowledge, this is the first case of a MTX-LPD after only 4 months of treatment.

A 21-year-old patient with a history of drug addiction presented with generalized, centrally-ulcerated papules and haemorrhagic crusts. Initially, differential diagnostic considerations included pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta and syphilis. Biopsy and serological testing confirmed the latter diagnosis. Syphilis maligna is a rare form of secondary syphilis; symptoms include a papulonecrotic exanthem and general malaise with fevers and wasting. In the past the disease was described in connection with tuberculosis; today it is most often seen in association with HIV.

Out of 3000 consecutive subjects surveyed for the typical lesion of transverse nasal groove, 180 were found to have the characteristic lesions. In LU patients, the floor of the groove was studded with patulous hair follicles, greasy sale and black comedones. The age of the patients varied from 16 to 45 years, the majority belonged to the 20 to 30 age group. Family occurrence of the groove was noted 'in only 7.Seboffhoeic dermatitis, pityriasis versicolor and acne vulgaris were the commonly associated diseases.

Based on our own observations in 40 patients and a review of the literature the clinical and histological aspects of dermatitis caused by gold therapy are discussed. There is a broad spectrum of cutaneous side effects following gold therapy. In most of the patients a nonspecific dermatitis can be observed. The skin lesions may also mimic lichen planus, pityriasis rosea or various forms of eczema, obscuring early diagnosis. Histologically four types of reactions can be differentiated including a dermatitis type, vasculitis type, a lichenoid and an urticarial type.
