Lung contusion has been identified as a primary blast injury. These experiments addressed a fundamental and overt endpoint of primary blast injury, incapacitation (performance decrement). Because some patients with Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteremia may present with shock, we reasoned that this organism may produce substances that cause shock. In order to study the pathomorphology and immunohistochemistry of peste des petits ruminants, four goats and two sheep were inoculated intranasally with the Malig-Yemen strain of peste des petits ruminants virus. Serologic investigations were carried out with 441 samples of blood sera from ewes, coupled with histopathologic studies of 18 aborted fetuses.
