A rapid and simple fluorescence method is presented for selective and sensitive determination of hazardous cyanide ion in aqueous solution based on functionalized zinc sulfide (ZnS) quantum dot (QD) as luminescent prob. Temperature and photo-responsive aqueous CdTe quantum dots (QDs)/spironaphthoxazine (WSPO)/poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) hybrid was studied in this paper. Phase transition and fluorescent decrease were observed in aqueous QDs/WSPO/PNIPAM hybrid by rising temperature, and color and fluorescent switching were also observed upon irradiation of UV/Vis light.

The incidence of tetracyclines' (TCs) residue (oxytetracycline, tetracycline, chlorotetracycline and doxycycline) in fresh chicken samples (meat and liver) collected during one year was recorded. TC residues were analysed using an HPLC-DAD method. The limit of detection for meat was 4.4, 5, 10 and 7 ng g(-1) for OTC, TTC, CTC and DOC, respectively, compared with 5.5, 6, 12 and 9 ng g(-1) stated for liver. Thioglycolic acid (TGA) capped CdTe quantum dots (QDs) with the diameter of 2-3nm were synthesized. The interaction between CdTe QDs and Nile blue (NB) was investigated by ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) absorption, resonance Rayleigh scattering (RRS) and fluorescence spectroscopy. UV-vis absorption spectrum of CdTe QDs and NB obviously changed, showing that CdTe QDs could associate with NB to form a new complex. At pH 6.8, NB effectively quenched the fluorescence of CdTe QDs. Photocatalytic decomposition of CCl4 (80 mg L(-1) in H2O) effected by Zr-MCM-41 (Zr incorporated in the amorphous wall of MCM-41) has been studied in the present work. Experimentally, photocatalytic decomposition of CCl4 on Zr-MCM-41 was enhanced by about 1.96 times over that on ZrO2. Photocatalytic decomposition of CCl4 may proceed via a two-electron transfer process that yields mainly CHCl3, Cl- and H2.
