Heat-killed sonicated suspensions of malassezia ovalis and Staphylococcus epidermidis were applied to the intact volar surface of the forearm of ten patients with psoriasis and ten control subjects. All ten of the patients with psoriasis reacted to M ovalis, and four patients reacted to S epidermidis. Two of the control subjects responded to M ovalis, and none responded to S epidermidis. Lesions that both clinically and histologically were consistent with those of psoriasis developed in the patients with psoriasis.

Twenty patients with endometriosis diagnosed by laparoscopy were treated with the antiestrogen, antiprogesterone gestrinone (R-2323) for 6 to 8 months. The drug was administered in a dose of 5 mg twice weekly. According to the American Fertility Society's classification of endometriosis, five patients were classified as having mild (Stage I), eight as having moderate (Stage II), and seven as having severe endometriosis (Stage III). The composition of the aerobic and anaerobic bacterial skin flora was investigated quantitatively and qualitatively in 25 patients with seborrheic eczema (SE) and in 35 healthy persons. Acne vulgaris is one of the most widespread of all diseases and is frequently the object of treatment in general and specialist medical practice. New insights into the pathophysiology of acne show that the most important therapeutic principle is suppression of the propionibacteria in the pilosebaceous duct since these bacteria have a key role in the genesis of the comedo and of inflammatory acne efflorescences. The abrupt onset of acanthosis nigricans (AN) or of multiple seborrheic keratoses in middle-aged or older people is often associated with underlying malignant neoplasms. A double labeling method with two levels of tritiated thymidine was used to study 6 patients with seborrheic keratosis, 1 with a fibroepithelial tumor of Pinkus, and 1 with basal cell nevus syndrome manifesting three pits on the palm of the hand.
