PURPOSE: The XEN gel stent is a minimally invasive surgical device for patients with open-angle glaucoma, developed to reduce complications associated with traditional filtration surgery. This study aimed to identify clinical factors that influence long-term surgical success, particularly in the context of postoperative conjunctival scarring. METHODS: In this retrospective study, 773 eyes of patients with glaucoma treated at a tertiary care center underwent implantation of the XEN gel stent. The primary outcome was long-term surgical success, defined as a reduction in intraocular pressure of a

PURPOSE: To analyze the associated costs of the implantation of the Lucia Keratoprosthesis (KPro) in a resource-limited tertiary care center.
METHODS: A retrospective chart review was conducted on patients who underwent Lucia KPro implantation. For the first 24 months of follow-up, the costs for initial evaluation, surgery, postoperative visits, and management of complications were assessed and converted to U.S. dollars. Visual outcomes were analyzed based on best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) improvement and anatomical retention.
RESULTS: A total of 24 eyes from 24 patients were analyzed.

BACKGROUND: Recently a new surgical technique for intracorneal ring-segments (ICRS) assisted by femtosecond laser (FSL) called ByLimB was developed, involving the creation of the incision from a paralimbic region. This study aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the ByLimb technique following one year of follow-up.
METHODS: A prospective, single-center study was conducted at the Zaldivar Institute in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Keratoconus patients with indication for ICRS-FSL assisted procedure, operated with the ByLimb technique were included. By using the ByLimb technique, the ICRS are

PURPOSE: To assess the outcomes of implantation of a single-piece toric intraocular lens (IOL) with 4 fenestrated haptics.
SETTING: IRCCS Fondazione Bietti, Rome, Italy.
DESIGN: Prospective case series.
METHODS: All patients who had implantation of the Mini Toric Ready IOL were consecutively enrolled. Intraoperatively, the IOL was aligned using an automated system. Follow-up visits were performed at 1 day, 1 week, and 1, 3, and 6 months. At each visit, retroillumination pictures were taken to assess IOL orientation; visual acuity and refraction were also measured.
RESULTS: The final analys

OBJECTIVES: The prosthetic replacement of the ocular surface ecosystem (PROSE) device is used to treat difficult-to-manage ocular surface disease (OSD) and ectasia. Previous studies have demonstrated positive treatment outcomes. This study aims to document treatment failures to better tailor treatment and address limitations with its use.
METHODS: Retrospective chart review of consecutive PROSE fits performed at Northwell Health from 2012 to 2016. Reasons for patient discontinuation of treatment were documented, and potential risk factors for treatment failure were assessed.
RESULTS: The tot
