The clinical findings in 12 patients with an unusual type of leukemia have been reviewed. The leukemic cell cannot be identified with any of the normal hematopoietic cells or with any of the lymphomas and may best be referred to by the descriptive term "hairy cell", which describes its appearance, most clearly seen on phase contrast microscopy. The myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) is characterized by peripheral blood cytopenias and increased risk of transformation to acute myeloid leukemia. This syndrome affects blood cell production and behavior. MDS is difficult to diagnose because of the absence of symptoms in the early stage of the disease. Often it is accidentally discovered during a routine physical exam/blood test. Till date, only a few cases of gingival enlargement associated with MDS are reported in the literature. Here is a remarkable case of gingival enlargement heralding the presence of MDS.

A case of small-cell lung cancer with prompt worsening of the clinical course was observed in a patient with significant immune restoration after receiving effective highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) for seven months. Rapid and enormous enlargement of metastatic liver was the main symptom. Chest x-ray showed an enlargement of the left hilus. The patient died 22 days after the onset of the fulminant disease. We suggest that the occurrence and aggressive course of the lung cancer resulted from the development of immune reconstitution syndrome.

Renal enlargement at time of diagnosis of acute leukemia is very unusual. We here in report 2 pediatric cases of acute leukemia who had their renal affection as the first presenting symptom with no evidences of blast cells in blood smear and none of classical presentation of acute leukemia. INTRODUCTION: Plasma cell gingivitis (PCG) is a rare benign condition of gingiva marked by dense infiltration of plasma cells into the subepithelial gingival tissue. INTRODUCTION: Mantle cell lymphoma is a rare non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. It is a subtype of B-cell lymphoma with frequent involvement of the bone marrow and the gastrointestinal tract. Isolated parotid gland involvement seldom occurs. Here we report an unusual case of isolated infiltration of the parotid gland by mantle cell lymphoma. The aim of our study is to correlate magnetic resonance imaging findings with the histological features of the disease.
