BACKGROUND: Organizing pneumonia (OP) is a pathologic diagnosis with clinical and imaging manifestations that often resemble other diseases, such as infections and cancers, which can lead to delays in diagnosis and inappropriate management of the underlying disease. In this article, we present a case of organized pneumonia that resembles lung cancer.

RATIONALE: Organizing pneumonia (OP) rarely occurs in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). We report a case of concurrent onset of OP and RA, in which OP relapsed after 9 years, while RA remained in a state of low disease activity.
PATIENT CONCERNS: A 65-year-old woman presented with pain in multiple joints accompanied by recurrent fever. Chest computed tomography (CT) showed inflammation in the right lung. PURPOSE: To evaluate computed tomographic (CT) scans of patients with organizing pneumonia (OP) complicating hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT).

OBJECTIVE: To study the clinicopathologic characteristics of organizing pneumonia of the autopsies in elder and to analyze the possible underlying etiologic factors.

We report on a case of bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia (BOOP) associated with Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP) after liver transplantation and tacrolimus based immunosuppression. Radiologically, bilateral diffuse interstitial shadowing and patchy alveolar infiltrates developed after switching the patient from cyclosporin A to tacrolimus for persistent rejection.
