PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to describe a new case using implant-retained overdentures in a patient with severe oral lichen planus (OLP) and to perform a literature review to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of implant rehabilitation in OLP patients.

Dental anomalies may compromise both esthetics and function in the pediatric patient. The present paper reports a rare case associated with both microdontia and severe hypodontia in a 13 year-old girl. The treatment was accomplished through the use of overdentures, which also served as a bite plane to increase vertical dimension of occlusion and as a potential space maintainer.

A case of hereditary opalescent dentin is described, which showed the same clinical and radiological features as those reported previously. However, there was no evidence of osteogenesis imperfecta. While a diagnosis of type II dentinogenesis imperfecta was therefore made, this case also had features characteristic of type III dentinogenesis imperfecta. Restoring the dental and facial esthetics in a growing patient with ectodermal dysplasia (ED) is fundamental to improve psychosocial issues, esthetics, and function. The purpose of this clinical report was to present a simple, fast, and cost-effective technique to re-establish a pleasant smile of an eight-year-old male patient with hypohydrotic ED. A vacuum-formed overdenture prosthesis is described, which is recommended as an immediate interim restorative treatment in the maxillary arch with excellent stability and retention.
