We describe a 72-year-old man suffering from renal cell carcinoma with lung metastases who developed scaly erythema on his face after the administration of recombinant interleukin-2 (rIL-2). A skin biopsy revealed intraepidermal and superficial perivascular infiltrate of mononuclear cells that were mainly composed of CD3 positive T-cells. There have been two cases of seborrheic dermatitis-like eruption induced by rIL-2. However, neither of them had histopathological evaluation. To our knowledge, this is the first case of seborrheic dermatitis-like eruption following rIL-2 administration whose

IMPORTANCE: The epithelial barrier theory (EBT) proposes that epithelial barrier disruption is implicated in the development of skin, respiratory, gastrointestinal, and ocular diseases (epithelial barrier diseases, or EBDs). There is a need to better understand the relationship between seborrheic dermatitis and EBDs, and we hypothesize that seborrheic dermatitis, characterized by epithelial barrier dysfunction, is associated with increased frequency of other EBDs.
OBJECTIVE: To explore the association between seborrheic dermatitis and EBDs.
DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: This retrospecti

Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) is one of the most common skin diseases characterized by inflammatory symptoms and cell proliferation, which has increased incidence in patients older than 50 years. Although the roles of microRNAs (miRNAs) have been investigated in several diseases, miRNA profiles of patients with SD remain unknown. This study aimed to identify differentially expressed miRNAs (DEMs) in lesions of elderly male patients with SD. We used a microarray-based approach to identify DEMs in lesions compared to those in non-lesions of patients with SD. Furthermore, Gene Ontology and pathway e

Seborrheic dermatitis is a common multifactorial skin disorder favoring the scalp, ears, face, and central chest. We present a case of an elderly woman with new-onset severe seborrheic dermatitis with massive facial hyperkeratosis mimicking ichthyosis. Clinicians should be aware of rare presentations of common conditions and should screen for associated medical comorbidities in new-onset severe skin conditions.

Seborrheic dermatitis is one of those conditions that dermatologists and patients alike tend to find a routine for, and in many cases those routines are hard to break. And, unlike the new treatment paradigms for eczema, acne, and even actinic keratoses, combination therapies for addressing the disease process typically have not been a part of the approach to treating seborrheic dermatitis. However, with the advent of new therapies and vehicles as well as a better understanding of how neutrophils and free oxygen radicals impact inflammation,1 there are new options to maintain and control the di

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of a therapeutic diet on serum biotin levels and to explain the seborrheic dermatitis in phenylketonuric (PKU) patients on a "loose" diet.
DESIGN: Forty-seven patients were divided into two groups: group A (n=21) demonstrated good compliance to a special diet and group B (n=26) were on a "loose" diet. Most of the patients in group B (20/26), who suffered from mild seborrheic dermatitis, were requested to return to phenylalanine (Phe)-restricted diet for at least 15 days. Seventy-nine healthy children of comparable age were used as controls. Biotin serum le

To establish consensus-driven practical recommendations for the clinical management of Seborrheic Dermatitis (SD), covering both acute treatment and long-term maintenance strategies. We conducted a modified Delphi consensus involving 33 dermatology experts under the auspices of the EADV. The process utilized an efficient, two-round, blinded voting structure to iteratively refine an initial list of 84 evidence-based statements, facilitating a structured convergence of expert opinion. The iterative Delphi process proved effective in building consensus. After the second round of voting on a refin

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection is transmitted primarily through sexual contact, blood exposure, or from mother to child. The virus targets CD4-positive T cells, progressively impairing immune function and potentially advancing to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) if left untreated. HIV infection is known to be associated with various cutaneous and mucocutaneous conditions, including seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, oral candidiasis, herpes zoster, and Kaposi's sarcoma. We report a case of a 44-year-old man in whom HIV infection was early diagnosed after a treatment-refra

PURPOSE: To evaluate the three symptom indicators of scalp seborrheic dermatitis (SSD), namely scalp flaking, maximum erythema area, and pruritus, to develop a "16-point scale," to explore its relationship with the severity of SSD, and verify the reliability of the 16-point scale.
METHOD: A dermatologist evaluated patients with SSD using a 16-point scale, and statistically analyzed the collected data with the help of SPSS 26.0 software. The measurement data are expressed as (mean ± SD), and the intergroup comparison was done using a non-parametric test. We performed the correlation analysis u

OBJECTIVE: Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) is a chronic, recurrent inflammatory skin disease characterized by clinically scaly patches. It is known that skin diseases with chronic inflammation are associated with comorbid conditions such as metabolic syndrome, obesity, cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and diabetes. In recent years, there are studies investigating the relationship of SD with metabolic syndrome, hypertension, obesity and nutritional factors. However, there is no study evaluating body composition parameters in SD patients. In the light of this information, it was aimed to evaluate the re
