STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: Most faces are not symmetrical, and this complicates the task of aligning the anterior segment of the teeth for the restorative dentist, orthodontist, or oral and maxillofacial surgeon. The dental literature provides conflicting advice regarding guidelines for aligning the anterior teeth.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine the sensitivity of laypersons to variations in the alignment of the anterior segment within a symmetrical face, and to investigate which guidelines were preferred by laypersons and prosthodontists when aligning this segment.

In summary, the impact and value of esthetic prostheses on amputee rehabilitation and their long-term use were demonstrated in this study to have no correlation with the severity of injury and level of amputation. All patients with traumatic amputation should be given equal opportunity to receive prostheses if the service is readily available. Whether use of prostheses is temporary or long-term, they help patients cope with the traumatic life experience of limb loss.

Two cases are reported of reconstructive surgery of the upper lip in patients who had squamous cell carcinoma, using the Bürrow technique. This technique is more used in lower lips because it does not involve esthetic unity. Out of 150 rhinoplasties carried out over 3 years in a Surgical Department. 20% of cases had previously undergone one or several surgical procedures.
