Vivax malaria is usually a benign infection but now trends are changing. We, here present an unusual case of P. vivax malaria presenting with spontaneous hemoperitoneum with thrombocytopenia. Spontaneous hemoperitoneum in P. vivax malaria has been reported earlier but with splenic rupture. However our case though had hemoperitoneum but no splenic rupture. In our case, thrombocytopenia was found to be the cause of hemoperitoneum which has not been reported earlier in Indian literature.

CONTEXT: Wandering spleen is an unusual condition characterized by the absence or maldevelopment of one or all of the ligaments securing the spleen in its normal position in the left upper abdomen. Pedicular tortion with a complete vascular disruption is a rare but known potential complication of this mostly congenital disorder. A 59-year-old chronic drinker (120 g alcohol/day) was hospitalized for sudden increase in abdominal volume found to be caused by a hemoperitonoff resulting from ruptured hepatocellular carcinoma with thrombosis of the portal vein. The Authors report a case of spontaneous haemoperitoneum following the rupture of the gallbladder. After a review of the literature, clinical, pathogenetic, diagnostic and therapeutic problems are discussed. It is stressed that, although this condition is rare, its incidence is increasing due to the widespread use of anticoagulant therapy.

BACKGROUND: Spontaneous hemoperitoneum in pregnancy (SHiP) is a complication of endometriosis. We describe the clinical characteristics and outcomes of mother and fetus in 11 new cases of SHiP with endometriosis and 43 cases reported in the literature since 1995.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: The 60 maternity hospitals in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in France were contacted to identify cases of SHiP associated with endometriosis. In parallel, a systematic review of the literature used the PRISMA chart to report published cases.
