Intrathyroidal thymic carcinoma (ITC) is a very rare malignant epithelial tumor of the thyroid gland with thymic epithelial differentiation. Here, we are reporting the case of an eighty-year-old man who at presentation had extrathyroidal spread to the larynx and metastasis to regional lymph nodes. A 68-year-old female with B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma presented to us with sequential blindness followed by hemiparesis. Four months earlier, the patient had developed chicken pox that was treated with intravenous acyclovir. The nitronate and nitrovinyl methods to synthesize indole glucosinolates (GLs) have been investigated. The results were applied to generally the most prevalent natural indole glucosinolates to synthesize 4-methoxyglucobrassicin (MGB) and neo-glucobrassicin (NGB) in moderate overall yield for the first time. The anti-inflammatory activity of the synthetic indole GLs was determined by inhibition of TNF-α secretion in LPS-stimulated THP-1 cells. The data showed that glucobrassicin (GB) exhibited higher activity than other synthetic indolyl GLs.

A 14-year-old boy undergoing treatment for nephrotic syndrome with steroids and cyclosporine presented with small sclerotic bone lesions in a routine chest radiograph. Similar lesions were found in other bones of the axial and appendicular skeleton. Despite the paucity of clinical symptoms and absence of laboratory data suggesting systemic mastocytosis, the diagnosis of an indolent form of this disorder was made based on radiographic signs and confirmed by biopsy.
