Seventy-one patients with glaucoma needing surgical correction had either a peripheral iridectomy with a thermal sclerostomy or a trabeculectomy utilizing a modification of Watson's technique in which the scleral flap was closed tightly with sutures. CONCLUSION: Pound-shape silicone oil retention suture is a simple and effective surgical technique to prevent silicone oil prolapse into the anterior chamber.

An 8-year-old girl was referred for an amelanotic iris tumor believed to have enlarged slightly over 3 months, suspicious for juvenile xanthogranuloma (JXG). We present 14 patients with secondary glaucoma following the implantation of a posterior chamber intraocular lens (IOLs). All patients were unilateral glaucoma, which developed within 1 month following the IOL implantation in 10 cases, and from 1 to 3 years in 4 cases. We studied 16 children, ranging in age between 3 and 8 years, who had posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation and developed inflammatory pupillary-block glaucoma. Prophylactic peripheral iridectomy had not been performed in any of the eyes. PURPOSE: Presentation of two cases of malignant glaucoma following filtration surgery.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: Two patients with primary angle closure glaucoma has been treated with trabeculectomy. Flat anterior chamber, elevated IOP and the presence of patent irydectomy has been diagnosed 1 and 5 weeks after operation respectively. First patient in spite of peripheral irydectomy, medication and pars plana vitrectomy had high IOP and flat anterior chamber and has lost her sight. Second patient has improved after pharmacological treatment.

Silicone oil (SO) is a long-term intraocular tamponade used for a variety of retinal disorders. In aphakic eyes with an intact iris, the use of an inferior peripheral iridectomy prevents SO prolapse into the anterior chamber, thereby preventing glaucoma and keratopathy.
