BACKGROUND: Although the use of continuous oral contraceptive pills (OCPs) eliminates scheduled uterine bleeding, unscheduled bleeding is common. The objective of this study was to determine whether progestin dose influences bleeding with use of continuous OCPs.
STUDY DESIGN: This was a secondary data analysis of two other studies of continuous OCPs. Women were eligible if they were switching from a cyclic hormonal contraceptive to a continuous OCP. CASE REPORT: We describe a case associated with venous thrombotic disease and subsequent pulmonary emboli and discuss the complexities of Emergency Department (ED) management.
CONCLUSION: This case typifies the challenge of caring for the ill patient with multiple, potentially related disease processes whose treatments may actually conflict with one another.

RESULTS: A total of 553 women experienced 1049 adverse drug reactions. We report the case of a 28 year old Gravida2 Para1001 woman at 9 weeks of pregnancy who consulted in emergency for acute pelvic pain following metrorrhagia. We report the findings of a 3-year retrospective study aimed at describing the epidemiological, clinical, anatomical and pathological profile of cervical cancers in an African country. We studied 46 cases of invasive cervical cancer. This type of cancer accounts for 31.7% of female genital cancers. The mean waiting time for a consultation was 7 +/- 2.4 months. Fourteen women underwent endometrial ablation by use of the Nd:YAG laser. All patients had significant risk factors that precluded safe hysterectomy for intractable bleeding.
