In the Netherlands dapsone is used for the treatment of dermatitis herpetiformis, leprosy and Pneumocystis jiroveci pneumonia and prophylaxis in case of cotrimoxazole allergy. An idiosyncratic drug reaction, known as the dapsone hypersensitivity syndrome (DHS), appears in about 0.5-3.6% of persons treated with dapsone. We describe a case of quick recovery of myocardium damage in a 15-year-old adolescent with subacute thyroiditis. After 1 week of admission, his cardiovascular status began to show signs of improvement accompanied by the recovery of electrocardiogram and indicators of myocardial damage. We speculate that myocardium damage associated with subacute thyroiditis is a complication of common virus, although we did not detect any abnormal virus antibody and deoxyribonucleic acid in the patient's serum.

Rhabdomyomas are the most common primary cardiac tumors in childhood. They usually occur on ventricular and septal walls. In approximately half of the cases, rhabdomyoma is associated with tuberous sclerosis. Most rhabdomyomas regress during the first years of life. We present MRI findings of fatty replacement of the myocardium which was probably after spontaneous regression of solid mass (rhabdomyoma) in a 16-year-old boy with tuberous sclerosis.

Concentration-dependent effects of thymol on calcium handling were studied in canine and guinea pig cardiac preparations (Langendorff-perfused guinea pig hearts, canine ventricular trabeculae, canine sarcoplasmic reticular vesicles and single ryanodine receptors).
