A 53-year-old man was admitted to hospital because of an anterior mediastinal mass. For definite diagnosis, needle biopsy was performed under ultrasonic examination. The histopathological diagnosis was thymoma and thymo-thymectomy was performed. The tumor recurred in the right anterior chest wall 10 years later. It is suggested that the thymoma tissue had been implanted in the needle tract. To our knowledge, this is the 2nd reported case of thymoma which has been implanted in the needle tract.

The authors report the case of an 11-year-old boy with a malignant meningioma of the right frontal meninges. The tumor was asymptomatic, despite visible exophytic extracranial growth. Neuroimaging demonstrated an en plaque meningioma bulging into the brain. Six months after the tumor had been totally removed by surgery, an isolated subcutaneous metastasis developed at the right preauricular area of the scalp, originating at the scar left by the first surgery. BACKGROUND: The spinal seeding from brain tumors sometimes mimicks fungal meningitis on examination of cerebrospinal fluid.
METHODS AND RESULTS: A 19-year-old woman gradually developed increased intracranial hypertension. MRI identified a mass in the right parieto-occipital area. It was totally removed and histologically diagnosed as an anaplastic ependymoma. Radiation- and chemotherapy were administered postoperatively. Transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) of the bladder is the seventh most frequent cancer of women. The possible mechanisms of local tumor recurrence are seeding and multicentricity. The increased use of imaging has led to more frequent detection of small renal masses (SRMs), often prompting percutaneous renal mass biopsy (RMB) to guide management. In this article, we report on a rare case of spinal seeding from a cerebral anaplastic oligodendroglioma presenting with signs of medullar compression. We discuss the prevalence, mechanisms and imaging findings of spinal seeding in various gliomas. A suitable clinical treatment and follow up for these patients is suggested.

Skeletal muscle metastases following cancer surgery are rare. Few cases of abdominal wall metastasis have been reported in the literature and attributed to tumor seeding after laparoscopic surgery or percutaneous nephrostomy. Primitive neuro-ectodermal tumor (PNET) of the cauda equina is a rare entity. 18 cases have been reported in the literature so far, including 4 cases with intracranial seeding. Moreover parenchymal involvement of brain has never been reported as a form of intracranial seeding from PNET of the cauda equina. The authors report a case of choroid plexus papilloma developped in the fourth ventricle. After complete surgical resection, two local recurrences of the tumor occurred, and required new surgical procedures. Eight years after the first operation, a papilloma of the right lateral ventricle was resected. The histological examination showed benign choroid plexus papilloma after each operation. Recurrence and seeding of benign choroid plexus papillomas are infrequent in the literature. For this reason, a long-term follow-up, by clinical examination and CT scan, is necessary for those patients.

An implant metastasis developed along the tract after percutaneous transhepatic cholecystoscopy 5 months after initial placement of the catheter into the gallbladder. Percutaneous transhepatic cholecystoscopy is conducted by insertion of choledochofiberscope into the gallbladder through the dilated sinus tract established around a catheter inserted into the gallbladder. The catheter had been placed for total of 15 days.
