BACKGROUND/AIM: Lymphomas of the orbit and orbital adnexa are important concerns in ophthalmologic practice; however, due to their nonspecific signs and symptoms, establishing a definitive diagnosis is often challenging. This study aimed to further expand understanding of these entities by assessing the histopathological subtypes and characteristic features of orbital lymphomas in a population undergoing orbital surgery at the Department of Ophthalmology in Katowice.

Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) care in Brazil varies in availability of resources and infrastructure. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among ophthalmologists of the Brazilian ROP Group (BRA-ROP) to assess the profiles and practices of ophthalmologists involved in ROP care. Current attitudes to the medical management of traumatic hyphaema were investigated by means of a postal survey. A single page questionnaire was sent to all consultant ophthalmologists in the UK who were members of the college of ophthalmologists. The response rate was 50%. Opinion was sharply divided on the use of bed rest, padding and topical therapy. However, there was almost universal agreement that systemic therapy, either steroids or antifibrinolytics, were not indicated.

An outbreak of epidemic keratoconjunctivitis occurred in three clusters among patients of an ophthalmologist during 1977-1978. Cases in the third cluster and possibly one case in the first were caused by infection with adenovirus type 37.
