A 34 years old woman was admitted to our hospital with a retroplacental hematoma of more than 50% of placental area. It was diagnosed by routine pregnancy screening. The patient had no pain, bleeding or other clinical symptoms. 24 hours after inducing fetal lung maturation by betamethasone delivery was terminated by caesarean section in the 32nd week of gestation. Though the diagnose was confirmed by operation there was no influence of fetal outcome. The management of symptomless ablatio placentae is discussed by literature. Termination of pregnancy should be related the gestational age.

We report a case of giant chorioangioma of the placenta which was complicated by breech presentation, placenta praevia, hydramnios, toxemia and premature separation of the placenta. These complications are described separately in the literature as being associated with chorioangioma of the placenta, but rarely appear together in a single case.

Three cases of abruption of a posteriorly inserted fundal placenta are described. This condition is characterized by vaginal bleeding associated with backache, a nontender uterus, and if unrecognized, high fetal mortality. Ultrasonography permits early recognition and definitive diagnosis. Fetal survival is ensured by closely supervised monitoring and early recourse to cesarean section.
