INTRODUCTION: The B-cell receptor (BCR) is critical for the development and persistence of B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (B-NHL). Protein kinase C-beta (PKC-?) has been identified as one of the key signaling hubs downstream of the BCR and constitutes a valuable target in B-NHL. Particulate matter (PM) is able to induce airway epithelial injury, while the detailed mechanisms remain unclear. The translocation mechanisms involved in the alpha1-adrenoceptor-stimulated efflux of the potassium analog 86Rb+ were studied in isolated rat hearts. Phenylephrine (in the presence of a beta-blocker) increased the efflux of 86Rb+ and 42K+, and the Na-K-2Cl (or K-Cl) cotransport inhibitor bumetanide reduced the response by 42 +/- 11%. A convulxin (Cvx)-like protein was isolated from Crotalus durissus collilineatus venom by a combination of molecular exclusion and reversed-phase HPLC chromatographies.
