Novel neurotensin analogues for radioisotope targeting to neurotensin receptor-positive tumors.

The increased expression of the neurotensin (NT) receptor NTS1 by different cancer cells, such as pancreatic adenocarcinoma and ductal breast cancer cells, as compared to normal epithelium, offers the opportunity to target these tumors with radiolabeled neurotensin analogues for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. The aim of the present study was to design and synthesize new neurotensin radioligands and to select a lead molecule with high in vivo tumor selectivity for further development. Two series of neurotensin analogues bearing DTPA were tested: a series of NT(8-13) analogues, with DTPA co

Fluorine-18 fluorothymidine: a new positron emission radioisotope for renal tumors.

Fluorine-18 fluorothymidine (F-18 FLT) is a radioisotope based on the nucleic acid thymidine and has emerged as an important tracer that mirrors cellular proliferation in positron emission tomography (PET) studies. Early studies in human tumors have been promising. However, imaging of renal tumors using F-18 FLT PET studies has not previously been described. In this report, a difficult case of renal transitional cell carcinoma in a longstanding cyst was clearly delineated using F-18 FLT. Importantly, the study was able to guide clinicians toward appropriate surgical management. The use of such

Radioisotope-guided surgical biopsy of costal metastases in breast cancer patients.

Radioisotope bone scanning is a sensitive indicator of metastatic disease. Localization of the hot spot for biopsy is difficult. Today, a hand-held gamma probe enables the surgeon intraoperatively to accomplish the localization procedure easily. As this technique is described in American literature exclusively, more recent European findings is presented here. During one month two patients were diagnosed with breast cancer. Bone scanning disclosed minor hot spots in the ribs. On the day of surgical biopsy the localization of the hot spots was guided by a gamma probe. For the biopsy a dermal pun

Identification of autoantigens in autoimmune haemolytic anaemia by a non-radioisotope immunoprecipitation method.

In human autoimmune anaemia (AIHA), warm autoantibodies frequently appear to have serological specificity for the Rh complex, but to date, immunochemical techniques have failed to demonstrate that the antibodies react with Rh-associated polypeptides. We describe the immunoprecipitation of red blood cell (RBC) autoantigens, using biotin labelling and a luminescent detection method. In three cases of warm AIHA, a band of 32 kD and a diffuse zone of 38-51 kD or 40-51 kD were specifically precipitated by eluted RBC autoantibody. This pattern corresponds closely with that precipitated by two Rh-spe

[Radioisotope measurement of left ventricular ejection fraction. Comparison with results of cineangiocardiography].

The combination of radiocardiography with scintigraphy of the cavities of the heart allows us to calculate the effective systemic ejection fraction. The systolic volume effectively ejected into the systemic circulation is obtained from radiocardiography using Stewart-Hamilton's principle. It is correlated with the left ventricular end-diastolic volume as calculated by planimetry on the scintigraphic record of the cavities of the heart, making due allowance for the geometrical axis of the heart. The ejection fraction measured by this isotope method has been compared with the ejection fraction m

[Radioisotope cisternographic study on cerebrospinal fluid circulation after subarachnoid hemorrhage].

Although recent advance in neurological surgery has diminished mortality rate of aneurysmal surgery, there still exist several complex problems for the management of aneurysms. Persistent neurological deficits or clinical deterioration after subarachnoid hemorrhage can result from subsequent communicating hydrocephalus which can be treated by shunting operation. We have studied alterations in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) circulation after SAH in 43 patients. Sources of hemorrhages were aneurysm in 30 cases, arteriovenous malformation in 6 and unknown in 7. Radioisotope cisternography was perf

In vitro testing of the leukaemia monoclonal antibody WM-53 labeled with alpha and beta emitting radioisotopes.

We report the preparation and testing of a new alpha emitting radio-immunoconjugate (RIC) against acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) using CD33 positive monoclonal antibody WM-53 (specific for HL-60 cell line). Using cyclic anhydride of diethylenetriaminepentacetic acid (cDTPAa) as chelator, antibody was labeled with 213Bi (alpha), 149Tb (alpha), 153Sm (beta) and 152Tb (positron). In vitro testing showed high labeling efficiency (90-95%) and stability (11-19% leaching) with immunoreactivity virtually the same before and after labeling. DNA synthesis data and MTS cell survival were compared for all

Comparison of sentinel lymph node biopsy guided by the multimodal method of indocyanine green fluorescence, radioisotope, and blue dye versus the radioisotope method in breast cancer: a randomized controlled trial.

PURPOSE: This study aimed to evaluate the identification rate and surgery time of sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) by a multimodal method (MMM) using a mixture of indocyanine green (ICG), radioisotope (RI), and blue dye (BD) compared with the RI alone. METHODS: In this phase II randomized study, 86 patients with clinically node-negative breast cancer were enrolled and received SLNB with either MMM or RI. We compared the identification rate, number of sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs), and detection time of SLNB and evaluated the safety. RESULTS: The mean age of the MMM group and RI group was 48.2
